LOL, the words that were bleeped out stood for a female body part and not a male body part. Thus this wasn't an extender, but rather just a satisifier for you "single, bitter, and new toys" types.

Maya was born!

Swift Creek's Lady Guinevere whelped a litter of 9 pups (4 yellow females, 3 black females, 1 yellow male and 1 black male)

I hope to make it up there to see them sometime in January.....and will pick up Maya in early February...........

...I am stoked!........

Awwwwww....how adorable! I remember when my Chesapeake Bay Retriever was a pup! So damn cute. The mother looks like she's been through hell though.

I believe 8 weeks is the minimum time before they should be removed from their litter.

Yep I researched again. 8 weeks. Take em early if you must but do so at your own risk. Lots of important puppy development going on.

UC is right. The breeder shouldn't even allow you to take it before 8 weeks. $10 says the pup bites you and attacks the neighborhood kids in a year or two. That thread is gonna rock. Take pics.

Wait the extra week.

My heart dropped when I saw Dzervit had posted. Whew, what a relief.

Biting was exactly my thought. I think my dog may have been taken from the litter a little early....he does know how to play bite my arm, which is good, but his social skills with other dogs is really lacking. He bites house guests too.....

One of the Xmas presents I got was Season 1 of a show called The Dog Whisperer. It's on National Geographic channel or something. I had never heard of it, but we watched a couple hours of it last night; great great stuff.

A dog IS NOT going to bite just from taking it at 7 weeks versus 8 weeks.

no need to fret LT......ignorance is bliss.........

..........I have been around Labs for 26 years now............12 of which were spent "raising" numerous litters...........I think I know a thing or two more than what UC and the gang are finding on the internet.........

.......PSS-Matt.........yes......you find some ground this fall.....I will bring Maya........but keep in mind that a dog is really not prepared for the field until it has a few seaons under its belt......I am excited to have a pup with a reputable line of "point" in it...........

You're right. I definately believe that you two know more about raising dogs than the hundreds of experts and the Internet, in books, and elsewhere who disagree with you. Hell why not take it at 4 weeks? We wouldnt want those extra 3 weeks to cause you unnecessary distress.
