Those are like the grab handles in the handicap stalls in the bathrooms....... Old people use them to get up or down, us youngins use them for leverage. 
Yes I've hit my head on my bosses ohh crap handles in one or two of his F250's or his F350's.
First time was in one of his F250's and it just about knocked me back out of the truck and flat on my face in the parking lot. I think that was after a few beers at hooters at a late, end of the day lunch, since we were under obligation and skipped lunch, so stopped there before heading back to town.

Kingfish51...when, where, was your sig pic taken? Looks like pics I've seen in Ford Times, and several of the books Loren Sorensen wrote....
The sign..what I can see of it...looks like the one Ford went to in 1942.
