Remote Desktop/Remote Assistance

Is there a way that a server admin can remote into someones computer to observe what they are doing (or not doing in this case) without their knowledge?

We use this at work. It can be set to "silently" connect to a PC...the user will have no indication that their PC is remoted. Check with your legal department before doing this....

Our IT people can do it, but for now it is set for permission only. Meaning I have to give him permission to do it.

Although, it wouldn't surprise me if they can do it without our knowledge.

We use a product called NetSupport for remote support of more than 400 PC's. Unlike most remote access, we have the ability to let the user see us or not see us. We can also thumbnail up to 10 PC's on our screen to watch a bunch of people. It's also MUCH faster than PcAnywhere, RDC, etc. and only takes about 660k of memory space versus over 20,000k for some others.

VNC... You can set it up to be installed without a tray icon and then the only thing they'll notice is a quick minor blink in the screen when you first connect. You can just watch or click a button and take control.

THe Icon changes color....not sure if there is an option to turn that off but they'd notice that...

VNC is pretty obvious. Third party products dude, the only way to go.

It does have a setting under Installation Options somewhere that you can make it invisible.
