Help: Quality Home Cordless Phone set?

He guys (and gal or two), I need a little help here. Our home phones (Panasonic) are crapping out on us, and we need a new set. We have a fairly large house, so quality long-range signal is a must. Doesn't need to be fancy, and in fact my parents prefer larger buttons and numbers since their eyes are failing them.

Anyone have any suggestions? Looking for a good deal, nothing hardcore fancy or pricey.

Thanks!

I used to have Panasonic cordless and it died fairly early on and was overly complicated.

I replaced it with the Motorola MD681 which is an expandable system. It's a 5.8GHz phone. Works well.

I got it some time ago so I doubt they still offer it, but what with online sales being what it is, I bet you could find it, new no less, somewhere for cheap if they no longer make it.

Not big buttons, but for a cordless system it's clear and has good range, which says a lot.

Thumbs up

I just saw a new Motorola phone at Best Buy, $89.99 for the first 2 phones and it had a very simple and large layout. Might be the winner.

Thanks for the info

ETA -

Looks like this:

The other thing I liked about it is that it feels solid, not light-weight cheap plastic.

Don't know if the new models look like it or have the same build quality, but if the system I have is any indication, it should be pretty good.

I'm exceptionally pleased with my AT&T E5965C series.

Transfers from phone to phone are seemless, paging, intercoms...up to 8 sets...

only one needs a phone jack. Very Nice so far

Honestly... I have had the best luck with uniden phones.....

We went through alot in a few months a few years ago.
Our Uniden was not bad.... just decided to upgrade and caused alot of headaches...... So after going though various bells, moto's, etc etc... then decided since our old uniden had lasted for 8 years (and is still working for a back up). then lets get another uniden.... it's been atleast 3 years and still works just like the day we bought it. Well the day after since it has to be charged.... hehe

If I was going to get another one today I would definatly search the Uniden line..... and the expandables are with out a doubt the way to go in a large house. For security, get lower frequency and put a couple of the epandable repeaters on every floor or where ever they are needed, and that way you are less likely to be broadcasting signal to your neighbors house......

VTech is the best phone I've ever had. 2.4 Ghz. Expandable system. The main phone is the only one that needs a phone jack. I have 3 additional handsets in the house/garage/basement that simply plug into a wall outlet.

We have a Uniden also. We've have had it for several years, it's been used and abused and still works like new. We did have to replace the battery pack about 2 years ago but those things do have a lifespan. It gets good reception too, can talk at least to the end of the driveway (about 500 feet), maybe more.

What's a home phone? Is it anything like a cell phone?

Not even close. My home phone works all the time, my cell phone won't get a signal where I live.
