Cool. I bought a refurbished D610 Latitude for work, runs like a champ thus far...it's surprising how fast a computer really can be when you don't have tons and tons of junk on it...

Although wouldn't mind is there was a stash hidden in the box when it got here.........

Sell it on the street and pay for the system!

The only thing I really went cheap on, (besdies getting the cheapest available system) was the memory..... with only 1/2 gb. But I have 2, 1GB sticks here already... who needs a warranty?????

I've gote the answer for that too..... When my old system died, I bought an external hard drive case and put the Hard drive in it.... the case I bought is networked via 10/100 on my router and mounted on the system as an onboard Hard drive.... so everything is stored on it, since it doesnt have an OS..... spyware and other's will be lost.......

If you can wait, there are usually some good laptop deals the day after Thanksgiving. Of course, you might have to wait in line overnight.

You'll be throwing another 512 of RAM in right quick.

Can you believe how much computing power we get nowadays for <900

Congrats

I hope I am not saying the same thing in the future. I bought a pretty powerful HP setup from Sam's Club last December. So far, I really like it. It is my home machine, I have a Dell at work.

The only problem I have with HP systems are the laptops and their power supplies....very flaky in my experience.

I'm holding out for a 4 or 6 core ULV laptop... hopefully a Mac, but I doubt it as they are always 1-3 years behind everyone else.

Power supply is good on this zt1130 that I'm using for now tell my dell gets here.... The power supply is loud, but good.... my complaint with it is the battery, I can't get it to find it....... dosent matter anyway becasuse the screen is black so has to have an extranal monitor.... basically is now a slim line desktop.....

Already in the plans the minute I put the order in. Thier memory was just to expensive......

Yea the first shelf system I bought was about 8-9 years ago, Compaq Presario, 64 mb of ram, 4 GB hard drive, 32 mb shared video, I can't remember the processor speed, very small though in comparison to todays computers. That plus 15" monitor, keyboard, mouse, printer.... $1500

Cost twice as much for 1/4 the power but it's still running with all the original parts, my daughter is using it actually.

Looked at them too.....

Want one, I love the way they look. I've never had one or known anybody who has to play with one, but I hear from the net that they are awesome machines.
