Nanotechnology

In chemistry we have been talking about nanotechnology. This stuff is both interesting and scary. I mean we re talking about roads that repair themsleves, cars repairing themselves, etc. Also tvs that fit in your pocket. I mean it is neat. We watched a video today it said that we could make nano flowers which act as springs. It said they could put those on future cars windows to repeal the water so yo could do away with windsheld whipers. Does anyone else find this interest? Oh I alomst forgot NASA is soppose to be working on a elevator type thing to go up to space. They are working on a nanofiber string that is soppose to be about 3 times as strong a steel! They need it to be 66,000 mi long and the currently have one about 3 miles long. Wouldn't it be neat instead of a rocket ship they just rode a big circle like slide up to space? It is just amazing!

Yep, that would be amazing to ride an elevator to space, and then walk out onto the deck and look down at the Earth. It problably won't happen in our lifetime though.

Don't know about yours but I'd say it'll happen in mine...I mean look at the advances. They are coming up with new things everyday. I mean look t Cell phones, You buy it and then the next week something new has came out. TVS I mean it isn't enough that we have HDTV so now we make a Plasma or flat screen. Chevy makes cars that ar equiped with on star that can unlock your car if you locked the keys in it. I'd say it will happen in my lifetime. But isn't it freaky that cracked sidewalk could repair itself.

The freaky part is little nano robot cells that they inject to hunt down defects and help out those poor little white blood cells. Robotics at the cellular level... spooky!

Yea....They were also saying that instead of radiation they will make a nano tool that will target the one single cell and kill that cell. Could you imagine a whole universe taking over? Nanobots controlling humans?

A nanosecond has been known as the standard for the shortest measured mark of time.
They recently discovered an event that accurately measures a single nanosecond.

It's the elapsed time from when the Light turns Green until the guy behind you blows his horn.

They are also saying they will actually be able to detect cell anomolies and wack 'em before they mutate into cancer cells. Woo-hoo! You go little cell-bots! It could also be a great career path:

Tell me about it, I think all this country does is bang one another....

Fun Population Growth facts:

California, Florida and Texas account for one-quarter of the U.S. population and were responsible for 38% of all U.S. population growth between 1940 and 1990. Damn you Texans. Jamzypooh isn't helping the cause by having Mrs. Jamzypooh pop out another.

Florida's population has grown from 1.9 million in 1940 to 15 million today. That is over a 600% increase in just 50 years.

Over four million babies are born each year in the United States. Damn that's a lot of diapers. I'm buying stock in Huggies

The U.S. population is growing by about 2.5 million people each year. Of that, immigration contributes over one million people to the U.S. population annually. %*@(@ immigration!!

Eight states have population growth rates over 2.0%, which means their population will double in less than 35 years. I know MI ain't one of them!!

I know Raoul was having some fun, but it made me think back to the time I was in college...

Was working in the physics dept using pico and femtosecond lasers. As an FYI, a femptosecond is a milion times shorter than a nanosecond. That was nearly 15 years ago, so I'm sure pulse-widths are much, much smaller now.
