Jeep Liberty owners...

Anyone got one? Like it? Is it stock?

The wife and I have been discussing new(er) vehicles still. I was at first thinking new Civic, but we've decided we really don't want much of a car payment. We'll be moving, and I'll be driving about 60 miles a day, and she'll be driving about 80. She is more than happy with her '03 Civic, but I'm just a little nervous about drving the Camino that far every day. I know it needs some TLC, and I wish I had the time to resto-mod it like I want to, but we're about to start building a house, and I don't want any project vehicles. The Belvedere is going into storage till the house is built...

Well, back to the subject. One of the wife's friends mentioned they are thinking about trading in their '03 Liberty for something bigger. They have 2 kids, and just want more room. Well, the Mrs. is quite interested in it, and the more I think about it I am too. I don't know much about it yet, other than its a 2003, V6 with 44k miles. The wife thinks its a 4x4, but isn't sure. This would probably end up being my daily driver at least until kids come into the picture (which we're planning on kids next summer/fall). I've never heard anything bad about Libertys, but then I haven't heard much at all. We're just "thinking" at this point. Nothing set in stone...

Another friend is selling a 2000 Tacoma 4cyl, 5-spd, 4x4, ext cab, that I've been thinking about also. I hate the thought of putting that many miles on the Camino with no backup vehicle should I have a problem I can't fix overnight... We would only be adding another vehicle not parting with the Civic or Camino, and the Camino would become a backup/work truck...

any thoughts...?

I'd get the Taco. With you doing that much driving, you'd be saving a lot more on gas. And the Taco isn't a chick car.

I agree, I own one of these so called "chick" cars. 2002 4x4....gas mileage sucks, as in all Jeep vehicles. And they are SMALL inside. In my opinion the Toy would be the better buy..

The ex had a 2003 or 4 black Limited V-6, 4x4, and would maybe get 18 MPG highway. Maybe. I'd expect nothing less than 24 MPG out of the Taco. And like Dinty said, they're small inside.

Mom has one... 4x4 V6 Limited Loaded. She gets 14 City 20 Hwy. Its been to the dealer a lot... Im not a very big fan of it.. For a vehicle with 33,000 Miles its been in the shop more than my truck with 165,000.

I had a 2005 Limited 4x4 for 9k miles. I liked a lot of things about it, but I got 18mpg mixed. I think it was capable of another 2 if it broke in and drove easier, but the engine revs well. The turning radiius kicked butt! It is fairly small inside, at least the back seat and cargo area. I put a reverse facing child seat in the back and it only fit in the middle, not behind either seat. We replaced it with a minivan a week before my daugter was born. Better fuel economy, way more space, better driving/ride, love the three power doors, but less cool. Oh, well, I sucked it up to be a dad.

Hmmm... doesn't sound too good for the Jeep...

Guess, I'll go check out the Tacoma... although, I'm still not set on anything. I may just take a couple a hundred a month and start doing some work on the Camino. Start with the brakes, then just do whatever I've got the cash for that will help it be a good driver. I was just hoping to not have any vehicles to HAVE to work on until after the house is built. Then I'm hoping to do a frame off resto-mod (TPI, 6-spd, power options, etc, etc...)on one of the Caminos, using the left over parts to make a work truck/back-up vehicle... and maybe while doing that I'll either buy the stroker off Dad or rebuild the 318 in my Belvedere. She's pretty much shot for now, and going back in storage till after the house is built... I knew I was gambling by not opening the engine, but I got a few really great miles out of it, so I'm not complaining. Plus, MOST of our wedding pictures have a really sweet orange Mopar in the background (some in the foreground )

Okay, I'm off to bed... g'night all...

The only one I've ever been in was the base model 4cyl. It was a POS & I would not recommend it. Never rode in a V6 so I really can't say if it's any good. I do know the Jeep Aficianado's hate them with a passion.

KC-10 FE out...

You're a married man now -- it's time to grow up, sell the Belevedere, and use the money to purchase a nice, sensible vehicle that's suitable for the babies that are surely on the horizon.....
