My NASCAR Weekend (dialups enter at own risk)
Any of Clint Bowyer, 07? His grandparents are friends with my parents back in my hometown, so by default I'm a fan.
Also, did you enjoy your trip to KC? What all did you find to do? I hope some of my and other recommendations helped you out.
Kansas City had a huge NASCAR event AND a home Chief's football game on the same day at the same time. Wow, talk about some tourist money rolling in. I knew that we had a home football game, and a race, but I never put them together until Sunday. It's a good thing for traffic that they happened on opposite sides of the city!

We were suppose to leave around 3:00PM Friday for Lenexa (we stayed at the Rad), I had directions printed out should have been about 4 hours.
Ended up leaving around 6:00PM because our nephew had to put on new brakes and get new plates etc etc blah blah.
At 7:00PM we encountered a fatal accident on 35, one hour into it's 2 hour stand still.
At about 9:00PM we encountered extensive road construction and 45MPH.
At midnight, since my nephew refused to even look at the maps I had printed out with the most direct route, we ended up in the hispanic section of KC at a Spurt/Split with the fuel light on.
To say the least, the looks on the hundred or so kids in the parking lot with their rides when an 02 Tahoe Z71 and a brand new Mercedes GL45 pulled into the parking lot and a bunch of white folk got out was interesting.
Side note: The GL has the full GPS package, but she doesn't know how to use it for anything but watching the cursor move on the map. WTF !!!! ????
Anyway, finally rolled into Lenexa and got checked in at about 1:30 Saturday morning. They screwed up and gave us all non-smoking rooms. Screw that, glasses make good ashtrays. $140 a night says I smoke in the room, especially since the room looked like a cut rate Motel 6. The Motel 6 would be better actually. Crap TV, the tub wouldn't drain, faucet handle came off, yeesh.
Anywho, got to the track at about 10:00, stayed all day, Outback for supper, back to the motel at about 9:00PM, too wore out for anything but a beer at the hotel. The traffic really wasn't bad on Saturday, got right in with minmal delay, got to park right up front. Only took about a half hour to get out of the lot.
Sunday we hit the track at 10:00 again, the traffic was heavy took about an hour once we got on the Speedway exit, pretty much followed the same agenda but left right after the race (most people did, not many seemed to want to see Stewart celebrate in the stands). Took us two flippin hours to get out of the lot and on the road, made good time once we we're on the interstate heading north, got back about 11:00PM, died.
Oh yeah, the KC area is very beautiful country. All those limestone outcroppings everywhere really give the landscape character. My wife and I plan on heading back down for some other races. Her family's seats sit empty alot, they really just go to the NASCAR events.
The trip sucked, but the races themselves were awesome. Got a bunch of free **** and blew a couple hundred at the vendors and food. Even won a Kinseth cooler at the Dewalt booth for beating the clock on the tire change thing, did both wheels myself in under thirty. But dude, compared to my SnapOn cordless impact, those Dewalts suck.

Yeah, sucks is the word.
BTW I have the gallery more or less up here
Dude, I gotta see the rest of those pics. As soon as you get your gallery posted, PLEASE be sure to give us a link. That's an AWESOME camera you have, and digital photography is a hobby of mine. Thanks!
