Does anyone have any experience with blower/vacs? I already have a Stihl blower BG55 (I think?). I am interested in getting one with the vac option to suck up some of the leaves around here. I live in a neighborhood where most of my yard waste has to be bagged up and I am just too lazy to rake them in piles and bag them.

I had one from craftsman ( I know cheap) I used it to pick up paint chips from pressure washing and scraping houses prior to painting, it did the job, barely.

The thing I learned was that get a good one as the fan blade that blows the air also sucked up the debris and mulched it. It was hard on the machine.

Well, I just finished raking and blowing, then bagging up about 10 bags of leaves. Not too many, but it cleaned up my front yard at least. I am not sure if one of these mulchers would make the job too much easier so I am going to stick with the old fashioned way for now.

Having my wife help me made it a lot easier. If I had to do it by myself, I would probably pursue my idea further.

A little off topic because it is a blower thread.

I worked in the logging industry for about a year and there were 2 major brands of chainsaws they would use.

First was Stihl and second was Husqvarna for all of the heavy cutting, period. The individual logger would pick his own saw because he was the one who carried it and maintained it. They had to produce for the "Company" or else they were looking for work.

That being said, for the lighter duty tasks they used Echo, Poulan and Homelite because of the size and weight. They were also cheap enough to use as "throwaways" if anything major happened to them.

I am sure you will like the results of the Echo blower.

Lead based paint chips? If so, probably not the best idea...

From: ....I could be anywhere....
i have 3 sthil chainsaws and absolutly love them..
however i have discovered that repeatedly running over leaves with my lawn tractor...(18hp bolens)..they turn to "mulch" really fast and a whole yards worth of leaves can fit into 2 trash barrels in no time...
rather than 20 barrels of "full size" leaves..

...zap!
