Quick laptop question...
I bring my laptop to school every day to take notes etc... Its a pain in the **** to wait for it to shut down/start back up for every class, and I know this cant be the best thing int he world for it. If I were to put it on hibernate, would it be safe to put into my booksack without worrying about burning it up? I'm afraid it will get overheated or something of that nature..Thanks in advance.
on mine i have it set that when i push the power button and it goes into hibernate, and with hibernate, yu can leave programs open, and they will still be up when you start back up, right where you were.
Thanks guys, yes I meant Hibernate because I have mine set to go on Hibernate when I close it.
Nah I'm not Aussie, I just see a lot of people use **** so I figured it would be my best choice of word.
Thanks again

Hibernate sucks. Standby is what all the cool kids are doing. Well, the cool kids with the good laptops that can run for more than 5 hours on a charge.
Standbye = faster startup, uses small amount of battery power to stay ready to rock. VERY handy for quick starts/stops between classes/meetings.
Hibernate = Bascially shuts off. Slower startups, some programs really hate it. The upside? No battery draw. Best for crappy *** laptops that need all the power savings they can get.

Standby saves everything to memory then powers down

Hibernating will make the battery last longer, but standby will shutdown and boot back up quicker.

Hibernating actually takes everything from the memory and copies it to the hard drive, then turns off. when being turned back on it reloads everything that was copied to the hard disk and you go from where you left off.
don't put your computer in standby then put it in your bag, only because your computer is still on and one good hit could damage you hard drive. Put it in hibernation mode to turn your computer off completely and avoid those risks.
