MP3- Educate Me

OK,
Just like with computers, I resisted as long as I could, now I want to get involved. I keep hearign about Itunes this, iPod, that, iRiver this, mp3 that... My Treo 650 has an MP3 player on it. I've been told I can put just about any song I like onto my Treo, and use it as my ringtone.

I don't know JACK Schyt, about MP3's. What woudl I have to do (Aside from buy an MP3 player) to be able to record MP3's onto my PC, then transfer them to my on-board MP3 player on my cell phone.

Even though I'm only vaguely aware, don't be afraid to "tech" me, or feel like you have to dumb it down for me to understand it; I catch on quickly.

I don't know what a Treo is, but I imagine it's some kinda PDA/smartphone type thing, right? If so, I'd guess it uses MS Active Sync like a pocket PC does. If that's the case, you should just be able to plug your Treo into a USB port on your PC, and transfer MP3s accordingly with something like Windoze Media Player. I use iTunes to transfer songs to my iPod, and Napster and Nero to make conventional audio and MP3 CDs.

pop your cd into your computer with iTunes open. it will show you the contents of the CD. Just click the burn icon in the top right hand corner, thats it, easy as pie. It will import them in mp3 format.

Just update to the latest Windows Media Player (should already have at least 10 thanks to AutoUpdates). Pop your CD in, go to the Rip tab and highlight the tracks you want and click Rip Music. Bam! Instant MP3s on your HD. No need to download iTunes or any other ripping software... Just use what your momma gave you.

It should be as easy as the ActiveSync that was mentioned earlier. Or if its palm based you should have some kinda similar file x-fer within the Palm Desktop world. Better yet, just look in the friggin' manual and I'm sure it will tell you all about it. Ha!

You will need a program like ringo pro to do this. I have Saliva = Disease as my ringtone. Rip the song as mentioned to your computer and either email it to yourself or use a smartdisk to copy the song and ringo over to your phone. It is really simple to do. I don't think verizon phones will palm sync. If that is what you have. Verizon has there on wireless sync. Hope this helps. Let me know if you need anymore help. I got a 1 gig smartdisk card that I use.

Manual? What's a manual?

Nah, I doubt it; my Treo didn't come with an MP3, a freind with a Treo beamed the program over to me. I did manage to load a wav onto it today, but that SOB was 43MB, I only have a 64Mb card in the phone...

Yep, my Acura has voice-activated, interactive, integrated hands-free service via blue tooth. Loving that...

I bet the bluetooth with the car is cool, but you can use the phone as a wireless modem for your laptop when your on the road.

Yeah, my wife really digs the voice activated dialing... When a call comes in, it pauses the CD, cuts the radio down, etc.. and says, "You have an incoming call"...

Little does she know I could have had a "male" voice in there, but chose the female voice. During set-up, I figured if I ever said, "Talk to me Baby", I didn't want some dude to say, "What number would you like to dial?"

It's pretty cool, it's not as sophisticated as the one in the 745Li, but still very nice. The "7" has an integrated phone that's voice actuated. The cool thing about the MDX is, it can synch to up to 6 different phones. So it's hands free for my phone, and my wifes, and it doesn't have to "learn" your voice. I'm just pissed at myself for not bargaining harder for the Voice activated Navigation system... If I get the new bodystyle MDX, I'll make sure no options remain unchecked.

That jokers gonna be so sweet, it comes with a 110 volt AC outlet in it, so when you pack the kids in for that road trip, if they want to bring their X-box, there's no need for an adapter, jut plug it right into the integrated DVD system, and go for it...

2001 - 2006 MDX: 260 HP, 7 passanger

2007 MDX: 300 HP V6, 7 passenger

I got navigation thru the treo. It ties up the bluetooth, but it works good. I don't think I could deal with a manly voice talking to me either. LoL Have a good night..

I just ripped the music I wanted, via Windows Media Player, but, it ripped them as wma's, rather than MP3's.

They are a lot smaller than the one's I tried to transfer yesterday (43.1 MB down to 3.81 MB per song)

I'll let you know..
