More router/networking questions

So, I'm up and going, router's still working like a champ, no problems. A few more questions, though:

Someone told me that a computer hiding behind a router was very secure, better off than using just a software firewall. Yes? No?

Security. I see all kinds of stuff about encryption on this router, is this something I really need to worry about? I live out in the boonies, where internet connections on my block at least are few and far in between; and the ones that are out there, I'm pretty sure they're dial up.

Routers offer a level of protection but you should still have a software firewall.

Zonealarm is free and very effective.

Most home routers stop many probing inbound attacks but nothing outbound or stuff that can comes in on common ports like 80, etc unless you configure them to do so. I would highly recommend a sw firewall to augment the router's included one.
