No offense meant dude, you just have to put yourself on the otherside outside looking in so to speak and it seems a bit amusing.

Around here it would have been as cheap to have a new window installed and remain silent as it would to swap out a used window.

Interesting though, I did not know that factory tint is film, I always figured it was actual tinted glass. Either way, I can tell you from experience that you should put together a letter concisely stating the facts as you know them to take with you when you visit with the service manager. I also suggest you ask to meet with the general manager or owner as well at the same time. One thing you don't want to do is start off in an accusatory manner.

The bottom line is you want the problem fixed, your truck restored to it's orginal condition, no punitive damages, no emotional duress etc. It's a truck, it's life, it happens. For all you know it's even possible that it's your window etc, they just banged it up somehow and missed it or ignored it. Go into it with an accusation of something approaching a criminal act is going to go a long way to establishing an adversarial relationship and get you squat but aggravation.

You say my truck somehow sustained this damage while in your shop, we need to arrange for you to fix it. If they don't give a positive response, then say thanks for your time and then contact your attorney generals office (they generally are the authority with jurisdiction in consumer complaints in any state) and the Better Business Bureau can help sometimes as well.

Screaming and yelling at them, threatening cops, lawsuits etc won't do anything but give you a stroke, them a laugh and your truck will still be damaged.

What you're doing now is pumping up for a confrontation and taking about 5 years off your lifespan.

Peace out

Very helpful, and I appreciate your expanding on the original post. I will take your advice and write up a letter outlining my points. I also think it is a good idea to speak with the GM/Owner. Yeah, I thought it was pretty strange too- I had no idea that the factory shading was a tint, but I can feel that the film is coming off the glass along the ripples, and like I said, it is pulled, and ripped in a couple of places, so it definately is a film on factory windows. I think slow and steady will be the way to go. And no, you didn't offend me - I understand it is a pretty strange thing to accuse a dealer of, but like I said, It wasn't like that when I dropped it off.

Factory tint is NOT film. Heh. It is INSIDE the glass.

Are you sure? Because this window is definately "peeling" on the inside- which is strange, because even if it was a window that had tint on it, the tint is usually applied on the outside right? So what could it be peeling and rippling on the inside?

I'm not aware of any tint applied to the outside of a window. Also I would defintly go the route of trying to get it solved through the dealership. Based on what you have your not going to get far at all if you have to go the police route.

Maybe you don't have factory tint.

Maybe the tint you have was put on the truck by the dealer or a previous owner.

Maybe the bubbling was there before and you just didn't notice it.

Factory tint can't bubble.

No tint is put on the outside.

Before you make a real a$$ of yourself, you need to check the rest of your windows and see if you have aftermarket tint all around. If you do, you have no complaint with the dealer.
