I would like to bring to your attention an article I recall reading a couple of weeks ago. Not to dissuede, but to inform. Sounds like more TV for less money awaits us all in '07...

LG Electronics and Sharp Corp. said they expected prices of flat LCD television sets to drop by 20 to 30 percent or more in 2007 amid overproduction and cost reductions.

This may work out because I don't see anything happening until after Christmas. Maybe there will be some good deals after the holidays.

I have an LG 50" plasma tv with HD cable. The resolution is 780 or therabouts (not the newer 1080) and all I can say is geeehhyyaat daayuum! What a picture on the HD channels My daughter works for Best Buy and I was able to get one hell of a discount.

LG makes two 50" plasma models. One with a DVR and the other without DVR (Digital Video Recorder). I got the one without DVR for about $500.00 cheaper. My HD cable already has DVR capability, so I didn't need it.

I preferred the plasma over LCD or DLP because the screen is glass instead of plastic or plastic membrane. We have pets and I was worried about scratches etc.

Well I've decided on the Sony KDL-V32XBR2...comes out in a few weeks apparently.

Suppose to be the nicest LCD 32" on the market. For the room we are putting this I can't go to a 40".

Nice Vader. I think we are going to go with the Hitachi I posted in the first post. I found a hook up at our local BestBuy and should get a pretty good deal.

Now all we have left is to decide on the sectional couch and carpet. Yipeee.

Vader - Did you or are you going with any type of service plan or extra warranty on the Sony?

That's my last great debate....I'm going back and forth. $200 for 5 years of coverage on a $2000 TV isn't bad....I'm not sure yet...you?

Hell, I was relying on you before I made that decision

I don't know yet. We haven't made the deal on the tv and they way we are working it with the BestBuy employee, it's kind of a package deal. Not sure yet.

My biggest concern is burn in with the plasma. $200 doesn't sound that bad at all for 5 years. It's hard telling what the technology will be like in 5 years anyways. You'll be buying a 72" by then
