Most of the time, there is a "cleaning index-> simply the gpm times the psi. The higher, the better.

2500psi X 2.0gpm=5000 cleaning units

2000psi X 3.0gpm=6000 cleaning units, ie better unit.

All the pressure without the water means nothing. It is like an air compressor: all psi, but no cfm does not get anything done.

Look for either a CAT or an A/R pump. Good units and easy to get parts for.

We sell some 6300psi units running 5.5gpm: that will take the paint off in a hurry.

Exactly what i told him. The more water it pushes the better it will be. Higher PSI doesnt mean better. Its all about how much water is being moved.

Well kids, I went with the Excell. The one in the picture I posted. It was actually on sale when I got to the creepo, so it worked out better. It's 2600 psi, 2.5 gpm with a 5.5hp Honda. The thing works great. I just blasted all the mud off my truck. I'm not thrilled with how big the tip is ( as I knew I wouldn't be) but ima just buy a new quick disconnect end and the different spray pattern tips, then I'll be all set. Thanks for the help guys.

Honda engines and CAT pumps are good.

A small engine salesman told me to stay away from ones that have the pump mounted directly below the engine. He said that they were prone to failure.
