Arrow Guess the weight...

Had to pick up a tree for my fraternity (Sigma Chi for those of you who care) for us to make a crucible (sp?) for St. Patty's week, not day I was told to go out and find a big tree. Luckily, there was a guy about 10 miles from here who was clearing land, and had this beauty. How much do ya think it weighs?

This pic was taken AFTER we removed at least 500 lbs of dirt and rocks from the roots.

Here it is with all the dirt and rocks. My truck was riding so low, that we couldn't get the tongue jack under the trailer, we had to get my jack out of the truck and jack up the tongue of the trailler first.

And because you all care, here's my truck sitting pretty at a vineyard

Sorry about the crappy camera phone pics, but I've got some "real" pictures on the way.

EDIT: Almost forgot, I took it to the local CAT scale to get it weighed, and it's set up for a semi, so the button to push to turn on the scale is, oh about 10' off the ground.

I agree, or maybe 3Kish lbs.

And on a side note, those are pretty good pics for a camera phone.

I will take a guess of 5k, including the trailer.

You're thinking of the right thing, but around here they are MUCH bigger. Our final product will be about 10' long. As for the weight, I'm working on finding a scale around here that is "pickup" friendly. If I get bored tomorrow then I will run up to the semi scale and climb on top of my truck and use that one.

EDIT: Also, the tree is a white oak, and is 18' long at the moment.
