Hey Matt, welcome!

Just an FYI, you can't get an F150 with a diesel, but the bigger (and some will argue BETTER ) F250 and F350 trucks DO have a disel option. New, they are $40k+ for the most part, and used...well, huge variance, but because diesels are so great do know that they hold their value well.

Good luck!

My plan a few months back was to junk the original gas engine, and then put a diesel in its place. I wasn't goin to put a PSD in it b/c of the space issue, so I was going to use the one Jeep uses in their Liberty Limted edition. I am going to wait a little while so that the Jeep R&D people can make sure it's reliable. It's a smaller engine, an inline-4 2.8L turbodiesel engine. I'm not quite sure if could fit though. I haven't yet have the time or dough to do such a project.

Matt

Why not buy an older Powerstroke and drive that? If you're wanting to do the swap route, why not buy an older F-series and swap in a Cummins?

The ever popular 5.9, available in any Dodge 2500/3500. They get pretty good mileage too, probably 18 mpg highway, maybe more, maybe less, depends on the year. Start buying issues of Diesel Power. They've had a few Cummins Swap articles, into Chevy and Fords. They also put out a guide of what model 5.9 Cummins came in what year Dodge, and what the hp/tq numbers were, and what the advantages/disadvantages were of each model. Your best bet would be to buy a mid 90's F-series with either high miles or a blown motor, and a running but wrecked mid 90's Dodge, with your choice of drivetrain (tranny, t-case, etc.).

Make sure you have your finances in order before investing in an F250 or any other diesel. Your good friends with Adrian so I'm sure your aware they dont require as many repairs but when they do it's big cash, plus oil changes and fuel filter changes will get you.
