Hey, since no one was hurt . . .

. . . you might as well pimp it for all it's worth!

From AP

CORNELIUS, N.C. (AP) --

Former NASCAR champion Rusty Wallace walked away from an accident in which a driver talking on her cell phone ran a stop sign and collided with Wallace's SUV -- then used the occasion to tout the safety of his Dodge Durango.

"You hear car companies talk about safety a lot," the former driver of the No. 2 Dodge said in a statement Tuesday, "but I can tell you that (wife) Patti and I are both really thankful for the research and development that Dodge puts into the safety of their vehicles."

A report filed by police in this Charlotte suburb said the crash occurred around shortly after 11 p.m. Monday, when a 2004 Mercedes driven by Stacy Earls Greene, 29, struck the driver's side door of Wallace's 2006 Dodge. Wallace's wife, Patti, was a passenger in his vehicle; 4-year-old Trey Greene was riding in Stacy Greene's car.

"Driver ... stated she was talking on her cell phone and did not see stop sign on Harborside (Drive), causing her to strike the left side of" Wallace's truck, Officer Marc Fasano wrote.

Besides the shameless hucksterism Wallace exhibits, this also throws a light on what I have repeatedly been ranting about since the late 1930's . . . people shouldn't be yakking on cell phones while driving. It's too bad the lady on the phone didn't go flying thru the windshield. Ten bucks says she doesn't learn a lesson from this.

I always wondered how to spell yaking. I guess I pictured it with two k's, like yakking? If Kobi spelled it that way, it must be right.

Oops . . . my bad, can't type. Never assume I'm always right, (even if that is a good assumption.)

Cell phones and automobiles DO NOT go together.

When I rule the world, that's the first thing I'm going to fix.

Beside talking on the cellphone...another thing I can't stand is women putting their makeup on while sitting in traffic.

One of these days, I'm going to wait until they start to put their eyeliner on....then I'm going to lay on my horn. Maybe they will learn their lesson.

Well, Raymond Burr's sidekick on "Perry Mason" had a rotary dial cellular phone in his car on the original "Black & White" Perry Mason.

Remember when McGarret used to tell dispatch to "Patch him in" from his walkie talkie to someone who was on a regular telephone...

I used to think that was BS, but we could do that (With the line programmed properly) to intermix full and half-duplex systems so they could hold a conversation with each other. <Over>

I had a chick pull out slowly, in front of my Expedition (at speed) in her Mercedes SLK, about eyeball-level with my grill. If I had been BSing (Yakking on the phone, not paying attention), she'd have gotten plowed. She couldn't see me because she was looking right, as she pulled out of the shopping center (That big open lookign area) just north of Sky Lake Dr. She had her cell phone slapped up to her left ear (The same ear my grill would have plowed into). Fortunately, I saw her in time to see what she was doing, and apply my brakes (Not in that order), intime to miss her by 6 feet.

We made a long, unloving stare at each other as she completed her Linsay Lohan/Halle Berry left turn onto Lorimar from the shoping center.
Yep, she almost got tapped that day, and not in a good way either...
