Chevy and Honda fight my F-150 and lose!

Sitting at a stoplight two days ago, right behind a Honda Accord. Wham! A full sized Chevy van runs into me pushing me into the Accord. Guy was on the cellphone, and didn't notice we'd all stopped for a traffic signal. I've mellowed through the years, so I just took it in stride, figuring I may get a new truck out of the insurance settlement. A quick check showed no bodily harm. I got out to survey the damage. Chevy van is hissing, hood crumpled, and bumper twisted into the radiator. I turn to the back of my SCrew, and hardly notice damage. My optional Ford frame hitch was worth it's weigh in gold. Upon closer inspection, the class III wiring is screwed up, the bumper has some scratches, and the tailgate has a dimple. As I begin to smirk, I walk to the front. The Accord has two large holes in the bumper, and the trunk lid is sprung and bent. I look at the Screw. Both tow eyelets are scratched and slightly bent, and the plastic valance under the chrome part of the bumper is cracked slightly. THAT'S IT!!!! From 50 feet away you can't tell this old ford is hurt, and a Chevy van is being towed, while an Accord owner is finding some bungie cords to keep his trunk lid shut.

Now for the bad news. My insurance man just looked at it and thinks it will run 3 or 4 G's to fix it like new. Now I wish he's hit me harder so I could total it.

disclaimer: No airbags went off, and no humans were injured in the performance of the above mentioned stunt!

Get that on a frame rack and make sure it didn't get tweaked. Hitches help, but also can hurt.

Dang! Another cell phone accident! (See my Rusty Wallace post).

serotta, Adrianspeeder is correct. Make sure they check for frame damage. Shortly after I got my first Lightning, I was at a stop light and a lady rear ended me (also cell phone). It appeared that all that was damaged was the bumper but it turned out the frame was bent a bit. They were able to tweak it back but dollar wise it ended up being much more than the original estimate.

Glad to hear you're OK.

That has happened to me twice. First was the lady hitting my truck, second time was some kid trying to dial his phone while driving. He looked up and tried to slam on his brakes but ran into the back of my car which was also about three months old. Something about me getting a new car and three months later some a-hole on a cell phone will rear-end me. I'm never getting another new car ever again.

People on cell phones while driving. KILL THEM ALL!!!!!!!!

Bad news for sure, doesn't sound like you came out a winner in that matchup. At least no one is hurt!

Back when I had my 2000 F150 I got rear ended. I had a base model that sat high in the rear end. I was sitting at a redlight and had been for at least a good 10 seconds when all I hear is a loud screech, look in my rearview and see a cloud of smoke and then a BAM! right into me. An older car that had may have been an older Crown Victoria or Cadillac, the old ones that are real long and have metal bumpers, didn't slow down and hit a Cavalier and then pushed him into me. We got off the road and I found the Cavalier had a square hole in his front grill. Looked at my truck and found that he had completely missed my bumper and just hit my trailer hitch. I did not have a receiver and ball on it at the time. The Chevy also had a damaged rear bumper from the other car that him. The car that hit us had a dent in is metal bumper.

We waited an hour or so for the cops and when they asked where my damage was, I told them the car just hit my trailer hitch. He told me to go on and not worry about it. Never did have any problems with the truck. Maybe because the Chevy was stopped to and was just pushed forward.

Good thing my insurance man just sells insurance, and doesn't do appraisals.. The body shop said 1445 dollars and they need the truck a minimum of two days for repairs.

Raoul sorry to disappoint you. Not much racer left in me now, driving an F-150 FX4 with a box stock 4.6 Hell, I can beat it on my bicycle from a dead stop to 15 MPH.

Plus 1 for Kobi... kill all cellphone drivers.

It takes a lot less to bend a frame nowadays than people think.
