Im so pissed off right now

About an hour ago I heard one heck of a rucuss on the front porch. At first I thought is was my cats getting into it with some racoons that frequent the porch to eat cat food. I get my dog locked up and go outside to find one of my neighbors female bull mastiff. She came running up to me and laid down and did the sumbmissive thing. I kept hearing some heavy breathing so I go around the corner to see the male. He had gotten a hold of one of my cats. I got the dog away from the cat but it was to late for the cat the dog broke her back and crushed her body. This cat has been to GA and back with me and I have had her for 12 years. I am also afraid that the dogs got ahold of the this cats mother I had her for 13 yrs. Looked all around the house and can not find her. I hope she aint hurt somewhere in need of help. The neighbors are real sorry and are getting rid of the dogs. They got them from Craigs List so it is not like they had to pay for them.

I could understand if the cats were in their yard but my cats very seldom leave my yard and 99% of the time they are on the porch. My neighbors are good friends of ours and they cant find any way the dogs got out.

Anyway vent is over. I know there are probably several cat haters on here but I would rather you keep your comments to yourself on this one.

Friend or foe, I'd be pretty po'd at them. That's just indescribeable how they could be so inept with their dogs. I'm sorry for your loss.

Sorry about your pets. That said, no animal should be allowed to roam freely outside the confines of the owners' property.

I'm not a cat lover, but still, that is a sad incident. I don't mind cats all that much, just not something I want. I had the same thing happen to a friend of mine. His neighbor (he did NOT like) had a rotweiler (sp?) pup that was full size. It got into his yard and killed their cat right in front of them...happened on their back deck. Both of his little girls saw the whole thing.

Regardless if someone likes an animal or not, they do not deserve to die a tragic death like that.

Sincerely, I'm sorry to hear about what happened.

Their dogs were locked up and we did look for how they got out of their back yard but could not find an open gate or a hole under the gate. They had just fed the dogs not 30 minutes before this happened so they know they were in the back yard. They live across the street from us.

my MIL has a giant schnauzer that has mastered climbing just about any fence. Do you think that is what these dogs did? They certainly have the leg length.

I had a German shepherd once that could climb a chain link fence. Do they have a chain link fence? Who knows what those dogs know how to do.

They have a 6' wooden privacy fence. Both of the dogs were full grown I would not doubt that they jumped or pulled themselves over it. Hell they stand on their back legs and look you in the face. These dogs are HUGE. Anyway I appreciate the kind words. Think I am gonna go look for momma cat. I am concerned about her. The cats would stick together and defend each other. It was kind of strange to watch. I have seen them run pit bulls out of my yard before. I just hope she is not hurt.

Thanks again for the kind words from everyone. The momma cat showed up this morning around 3. I found Carolina (momma) in a paper mill in Cheraw South Carolina during a shut down. She is a maynx and was a present for my wife. So that part is all good.

That's a terrible scene man. I can't imagine how I'd react if it were me. Shoot- I'm pissed off, and I've never even met ya! I'm just glad the dog didn't turn on you while in an aggressive frenzy. Those bull mastiffs can put a hurtin on a dude, or worse yet, one of your family members. Make sure the neighbors follow up with getting rid of the dog. If they don't, then you have neighbor problems...

Really sorry about your cat. Im used to think that I was a dog person till one particular cat adopted me. Cat would come when I called it - like a dog. She moved with me all over the country thru 8-9 moves over about 12 years till I had to put her down. I still cry when I think about her.

About those dogs getting out - we had some German Shepards that could jump/climb a 6 foot fence when they were younger. I wasn't chain liink either.

Go easy on those dogs. I know you want to be mad at something but a lot of that is in a dogs nature. Cats can be pretty rough on a wounded bird, or mouse, etc... The dog may have lunged at the cat and got a face full of claws, the dog gets hurt and mad and the cat doesnt run ..... If the dogs aren't agressive towards people they might be good pets. Still, Im sorry to hear about your cat. Sounds like you lost a good friend.
