look what I made (woodworking)
I like woodworking too. It's the whole start with raw materials and see a finished product made by your own hands type of thing. Since I think most of the furniture out there is overpriced particle/flake board junk, I made my own king size bed. It's a simple all wood design. I made a platform with storage cabinets beneath it, in other words, no box springs & a removable head board. The mattress just sits on this platform and now we have ample room to store all our sheets and blankets. If anyone cares, I can post pics.

I know how to work one, 'General Picture taking'.
The room is actually a deep burgundy.
I took a swatch of pool cloth to Lowe's and they matched it great.
Reasons I painted the wheel...
The color theme of the room is burgundy, black and wood.
I used mixed wood types in the wheel components and didn't think the stain would be uniform.
The hub and rim were cast iron.
Going all black hid imperfections.
37" diameter, it weighs 45 lbs.
I had some burgundy left over but thought it blend into the wall too much and besides would look like a circus wheel.
Thanks everyone for the compliments. It's scary sticking your limited abilities out there for world judgement.

Yep, That's my kinda room. Very nice and cozy. All that's missing is a wood burning stove and some snow on the ground. And maybe perfaps a lab.
..and your wife is lovely.

If I tried that I'd be replacing the glass on my garage window because that's where I'd end up hurling my mitre box.
Measure once, cut twice.

Or like my Grandpa use to, known as more or less construction.
Somtimes more, sometimes less.
He was redoing his roof on his garage on his 50 year old house. I showed up after work to help. He had about 1/2 the rafters up, I jumped up to start setting rafters and before I placed the first one I asked, "What are you setting these centers on? He said "16" more or less." I looked at him a little confused and he said "16" average, sometimes more sometimes less."

I came back down and made a joist jig real quick. The rest were 16" center.....
