This was my first time ordering from 4wheelparts.com and will be my last! I will state my experience briefly and let you decide if you want to do business with these people.
Day 1: Called and asked if they carried an Edge Evolutin for my 04' F-150 5.4 L. Salesperson said yes and quoted me the price. I gave them my C.C. information and completed the transaction. Salesperson said I would get it in a week.
Day 2: Called again to get tracking information on the order. Different person said that the item was not in stock but they were expecting a shipment by 08-31-06. I asked her to confirm to wit she said, she would call me and let me know if their other store or whatever had any.
Day 3 (they still have my money BTW): She called me back and told me that the manufacturer has not even started production on this part yet. Said they are supposed to start on 08-31-06 and dont know when they will get them in stock. I told her to just cancel the order and refund my C.C. Put me on hold for about 10 minutes and said it was refunded. Good. Then she said it would take 3 days for it to show on my C.C. Bad...me not happy.
So they've got my money for at least 6 days knowing they never even had this item in stock and lied to me saying I could expect it in a week.
I will not do business with these untrustworthy people who either (for the benefit of the doubt) are incompetent and dont research their stock and availability, or flat out lie to you to make a sell.

A brand new product hasn't hit the market but was in their system. They processed the order and then refunded when you requested?

I may be confused but The edge has been out for awhile so production is well under way. Unless your talking about the new one with the GPS built in.
Yep, you are correct,they should have informed you of it not being in stock. In fact They may have violated some law by not informing you and telling you when to expect it. But, what do you expect when you order from a bunch of 4 wheelers?

If its the Edge for the 2004+ F-150...they've been producing those for a while now. I've had mine since the first of the year. If it's the A2 version....well, I'm still waiting on Edge to send me one to beta test. They are still alpha testing those units.....as far as I know.

Back to the topic at hand...That's why I don't purchase via the web, or over the phone.

They took my money most likely knowing that they were selling a product they did not have or even knew they were going to get.
$320 may not be much to some of you but to me it is MY hard earned money that I saved for this particular purchase. Would any of you like Wal-Mart to take your money and say "we'll ship you your groceries just as soon as they come in, we just dont know if or when that will be".
And finally, my comment was my way of getting my own kind of "customer service". These people don't care about you. They just want your money and will use whatever means of deceit they can get away with. If enough people used their resources, the likely-hood of you or me of getting ripped off or jerked around is less. There must be some form of pay-back for their actions and for me, this is it. If voicing my experience causes them to loose some business then good, thats how the system works. Nothing I said about them was an untruth or exageration, I simply stated the facts.
Bottom line..... they jerked me around.....I'm not happy.....buyer beware of this merchant, you may be next unless someone speaks up and forces them to better inform their employees and customers.

a hole 6 days of having a charge on your credit card?? wow! Thats very good service if you ask me! Normally when someone goofs up, that damn charge is on there for a long time! weeks even!

I don't know what kind of credit card you have, but mine doesn't bill me but once a month. A problem like this wouldnt cost me a dime.
Of course they dont care about you. What part of chain stores do you not understand?

Boy you people really dont get it. Go on and advocate for people lying to consumers if thats your idea of customer service. Do you really think they would have even told me it was on backorder if I hadn't called? And I'm just assuming they actually credited back my account, this is day 4 and I dont expect to see it till day 6 at the earliest. I came here to voice my opinion on an experience I had with a less than honest merchant and hopefully warn and inform others of their practices. If you wanna call names like a bunch of first graders then go ahead, I'm man enough to take your six year old, "my daddy can beat up your daddy" intellects. But instead of placating to your infant form of tit for tat, I think I'll just go sit at the grown-up table and have an adult conversation.
P.S. Feel free to continue your play-dough slinging, I'll check in on you kids from time to time.

Martypoo. Please explain to us how having a credit card charge on a bill you haven't even received for a period of 4 days is a problem. You're not making sense. It's not even like this was a month long process. You're on freaking day 4!! And I'm sorry if they can't magically make the credit show up on your account instantly. These systems take time and are most likely out of their hands.
4WheelParts has a bad rep; we know that. They suck. But your complaint is so week it's not even funny. How fast do you expect them to call you back? Do you think you are their only customer?
