12 Year Old killed by Air Rifle...

This happened to me too, at about that age. Fortunately, the BB hit me about an inch below my left eye. Boy, my friend got his *** whipped that day... I hated to do it, but it was a reflex to 1 getting shot, and 2 all the blood.

It's messed up that this family has lost a child due to something so, silly and unnecessary.

You'll shoot your eye out!
Christmas story!

We used to have bb gun fights, shooting at eachother, it got bloody.
I guess its natural selection.

As tragic as it is, I only hope that the parents don't start suing manufacturers over this.

Sad that the boy died doing what most American boys grew up doing.

We had battles with one and other also. Lots of welts and some blood, even had to pick a few out with our pocket knives.

Wow. From that story I gathered he was the smartest, most talented kid who ever walked the planet. Evidently the world lost one of the greatest persons ever. Bummer.

We never realy shot each other (on purpose), but we'd shoot at each other, and occasionally someone would get hit. (Back, leg, ****...) but, never in the front. Lever actions weren't that powerful, and the rule on the pump rifles was "one pump".

Shooting lizards, squirrels, birds (Even hit two in flight), and rats that had gotten in the dog dish, is probably how I ended up being an "Expert" marksman with the M-16-A1, M16-A2, M-60, hand grenades, and the M-203.

I never thought of that. I grew up in the country and I always had my pellet gun with me. I was a bad good shot with mine. Maybe your right. Maybe that's why I was a good shot. Hmm, who knows.

We graduated from bb guns to 22s when we shot at each other. You know hit the tree your buddy is standing beside, or into the dirt a few inches from one of his feet, maybe shoot off a branch so it fell and hit him.

No one ever got hit with the 22s, this was a good thing, even better is no one was killed.

Who ever shot him messed up bad. If it was intentional there is no excuse. Just like some kid a few years ago around here blasted his sister with a Deer rifle in their house. I believe it was intentional. Oh how the press went on about the “tragedy” but it was murder. All the little bastard got was a slap on the wrist. No. You willfully murder someone and you should get to “ride the lightning” or at least do 10 years regardless of your age. It scares the hell out of me that many murderous juveniles do a little time and then come out with a clean slate. If they’ve done it once who is to say they won’t do it again?

I worked for Crosman Air Guns for a couple years, they actaully has legal staff in house whose only job was to defend lawsuits for just this type of thing. If you ever buy a new air gun, box/paperwork/gun are COVERED in stickers with warnings etc... Think of stickers in the dozens for each gun and they still have people claim they didn't see them... There is no shortage of stupid people in the world.
