Jumping people off

Well, my battery died a few nights ago and my friend was jumping me off at his house. His dad didn't like it too much because he said that jumping someone off can mess up your battery and computer. Im sure if you do it enough it probably isnt good, but sheesh it was just 1 time and it's not like im some random stranger. What u guys think, is it true that it will mess up your truck?

I know jump starting '05+ Navigators will blow the fuse for the subwoofer/amplifier.

Otherwise, no, there's no real harm unless you do something dumb like hooking the cables up backwards.

Any late model vehicle's electrical system can be damaged by a power surge if you create an arc while hooking up the cable or unhooking them. You just have to be careful.

Check your owners manual. It is specific about how to do it and the sequence of connections.

Jumping someone off? I've never heard that term in my 27 years on this planet.

I've always just called it "giving someone a jump." And yes, if done properly, there is little to no risk.

I've been on the planet twice that long, and have always heard " gimme a
jump? ". I thought it was a xxx inuendo as it is in the General Discussion forum.

What if one of the batteries has some corrosion?

I have heard a little story, which it could cause the good battery to start.

True?

That's why I carry one of these in my toolbox. I'd rather not take any chances with a new vehicle. Plus I can jump myself if my battery should ever die.

The other day I was at Super Wal Mart and I had to jump 3 people, all in the same row. They saw me help on lady and then they asked for a jump too. Talk about being in the right place at the right time.

That's right. One drove a brand new Navigator, but could hardly speak english, one had a busted old Corolla that I'm surprised even made it to Wal-Mart, with a baby screaming in the back seat, and the other... let's not even go there.
None the less, I was the hero for the day. And my girlfriend was so impressed at my kind heart that dinner was on her that night.
