Ever start a car club?
I've been thinking about starting one. Just thought I'd get opinions from others who have...
I'd like to start something for guys/gals with say 60-79 domestic cars/trucks, or maybe just for guy/gals with carbureted domestic cars/trucks...
any thoughts or ideas?

Hmm.
I've never started one, but thought it would be fun to be involved in a car club. Who knows, maybe there are people in your area that have the same thoughts, but don't know where to begin. Take the initiative, and make up a bunch of flyers and pass them around. I see people leaving crap like that on windshields in the Wal-Fart parking lot....might give that a try.
I don't quite understand car clubs. Seems kinda boring.
I'm in a truck club; and that makes sense. We go 4-wheeling, camping etc. What does a car club do? Meet up in a parking lot and talk cars for 4 hours?

I helped start the Abilene Mustang Club years ago and was an officer for several years, till we moved to Fort Worth. It can be fun. later on, I joined the Ford Performance Club in Fort Worth. Those guys were too serious for me. Clubs are good if you want to socialize with car people and if you have some people willing to put in some time to organize and run them. To me, it seems to work better if you have a specific thing in common that limits the club in interest. Mopar Muscle, Classic Mustangs, Late Mustangs, you get the idea.

There's a car club in my city but it's mostly all riced Civics so I haven't joined but from what I can tell they don't do much. They have meetings every once in a while but no one shows up. It's pretty lame but one thing they do have going for them is discounts at the local audio/parts stores. You might be able to talk to some retailers in your area to give discounts to members. They also have their own forum similar to this one (but not as good).

lol @ riced civics post. you should start one, it would be pretty neat if it actually came through. i wish i could start one but i dont think im old enough yet lol and i doubt anyone would actually show up.
T shirts will be your first HUGE money maker within the club. Some car owners will buy 10 or more for there family to wear.
Be sure to have men, kids and womens style..
Then turn that money into "trophies" for best in club, oldest in club, farthest away in club etc.....Whats fun about that is the trophy owners will have to give up "the trophy" if a new member comes in and tops them... The trophy can be anything.....
You will have to elect officers so you can have a majority rule on where to meet, when to meet, what to eat... etc....Be sure its not and even amount of officers. 5 is a good number. That way there is no split vote.
Swap meets are the greatest also, invite other clubs to join the swap meet.
always give away door prizes such as wax, windex, tire cleaner. heck anything.
Then come the car shows! that is where it gets fun, with advertising, insurance, radio spots, and judging! And what ever you do. make sure the judges are related to no one!!!!!!!!!!! IF THAT IS POSSIBLE. Some folks take this real serious and fealings will be hurt.
This is all just advice and may not work worth a hoot. My experiance in this was at least 10 years ago or better. Im now into ATV poker runs, mud bogs etc...
