This is a chicken/egg argument.

If we look at one of your favourite arguments Burt, supply and demand and how the consumer drives the market, it also applies here. Lawyers fill the need (the need for greed).

Are there lawyers who file without being hired directly by individuals? (I'm sure there must be some legal, latin term for that action) Yes, but only because we the people allow it. You said lawyers write the laws, and from the stand point that they craft the language of "laws" then yes, they do, but again, only becasue we the people allow it.

If everyone was riled up enough to demand and end to this, it could be made to happen. However, people don't care. They let those they believe know more than them to run the show. However, if enough people say "Stop this bus now",then tell the driver they are fired, and start heading in a new direction, it could happen.

So let me ammend what I wrote earlier. Greed is the foundation, coupled with apathy of the masses.

Lawyers, the courts, all of that, only have as much power as we let them have. Our apathy and inaction is our stamp of approval.

No one really cares what they do which is why they do it. The blame lies on our shoulders for allowing it to continue, and by "it" I mean the corporate culture.

Edited to add: Blaming lawyers is "VITCIM" think. I'm not responsible, I'm a victim, I'm at the mercy of lawyers, it's their fault. I wouldn't have thought that was you, Burt.

[/I]

All that it takes for evil to win over is the inactivity of good men.

I can't remember who said that, but it is so true.

Lawyers are the scum of the earth. They pray on our systems and people for a paycheck. They are erroding the underpinnings of our Nation and yeah most of the idiots running the whole damn thing are lawyers.

They manipulate and twist words thats all they do and they do it so well that when they are done most citizens cant and dont understand a damn thing the lawyers created.

When the average citizen can't understand the laws being created because of "lawyersez" they are being cut out of the system, that is not a democracy.

Well when the average citizen even attempts to care about the laws being passed I'll be impressed.

I don’t think lawyers are the scum of the earth and do believe, generally speaking, they are a valuable asset, or more specifically, a necessity in our society.

We have a few good lawyers here on this site. The type of lawyer I don’t like and who I believe are generally responsible for a society of victims are those that take advantage of every possibility to make a profit over another individual’s stupidity.

It’s the stupid individuals in our society, and apparently they are a good chunk of our society, who are the ones making some big bucks along with what I consider unethical lawyers.

I don’t recall how many stupid warning labels I have read over the years due to some stupid moron that don’t have a functioning brain who along with their scumbag lawyer made a nice killing.

An easy example would be drunks who kill people because of their stupidity and rather then society FORCING them to accept responsibility they force that responsibility onto the bar or store that LEGALLY provided the sale of alcohol. Why is that so, well because lawyers made that so and only because they know the stupid drunk don’t have any serious cash but the bars and stores do.

If our society truly wanted to solve the problem with drunks killing people when they drive they would correct the root cause which would be to kill the drunk. Dead drunk is one less root cause of drunk driving deaths. Suing a bar or store will NEVER solve the root cause but then again those type of lawyers are NOT concerned in correcting the root cause as that could seriously limit their customer base and cash flow…
