Are those new ones Red Wings?

I kind of like the look of the slip-on work boots, but I'm so accustomed to how the lace-up ones feel on your feet that I can never get used to the feeling of the slip-on styles....

I have a pair of Redwing Worx just like those. They are as comfy as a pair of tennis shoes for the first year or so then they start feeling their age. This is my second pair of Redwings, and the first pair which were Pecos', were the same. I keep buying Dr. Scholls insoles to make them comfortable until they wear out but they just wont wear out. I am going back to Wolverines next time. Oh yeah, good luck with all the ribbing from the guys at work that come along with a new pair of boots.

I started off with a pair of RW Pecos back in '96 and I too did the inserts till '03. Then I bought the black RW Worx in '03 (shown) and decided to go back to the RW pull on's. The black RW's still feel comfortable and I will continue to use them on dirty jobsites (till I work in the pull on's) but I felt it was time for a change.

Oh and I get the ribbing because I'm the boss with the old boots. :o

Actually they are the 5558, 11", steel toe, size 11.5; So the box says. I think they are dicontinued but one of the local Red Wing stores still had some in stock, so the guy knocked a few bucks off the price.

Is that anything like a "toe hold"?

A person could wear out some boots like that getting his toe hold on, but if you want to break in the new boots; that would be fine with me.

Budha,

Your not gonna throw the old ones out are you?

They make great fishin', huntin' and yard work shoes.

Nope, still going strong; I wore them today. I fish in flip flops or barefooted, I don't hunt and I used them for yard work anyways.
