Hyperbole . . .

You know, this past week (or two to three weeks actually) you'd think the only thing going on was that the country was burning up and had been reaching record temperatures the likes of which have never been seen before!!!!!!!!!

Every news outlet on the web and on television and radio is reporting the "story" about how unbelievably hot it is, how people are dying everywhere, and there's NO END IN SIGHT!!!!

Uh . . . .hello . . . it's summer! Yeah, last week it got to be 112 in the San Fernando Valley, and it was 90 at the beach. The local press was falling all over themselves acting like it was armageddon. It's been that hot before, in fact many times. It's like that every year. If it's not 112 then it's always at least 106 at least a handful of days each and every summer.

CNN is reporting that over 160 people died of the heat in California alone !!!!!! Yeah, I'm sure 160 folks died in CA last week. But not of heat stroke. They take the death toll and since it's THE HOTTEST SUMMER IN RECORDED HISTORY!!!! They attribute it to the heat.

When I was a kid growing up in the valley, we had triple digit temps all summer long every summer (and a lot more smog than we have now). Our classrooms were NOT air conditioned. And none of us died and the press was not acting as if Jesus were due at any minute.

What the F**k is up with all this BS? Is it that slow of a news month? The turds in the middle-east and offing each other left and right and the lead story here is "OH MY GOD IT'S HOT!!!!"

Stupid me.

I saw the title of this thread and thought it was about a College Football game for the kids with A.D.D.

I guess that would be Hyper Bowl.

And you're right. The mega-minds of newsdom are clueless. This is why Al "Extreme Makeover" Gore will be our next president.

Never knew why weather was a major news event and its not been as hot as in the past. Sure we see records now and then but there are still some records yet to be broke.

Anyway, Fox news did a cool piece on the weather last night. It appears we are in the same weather pattern that was seen in the 30’s and 40’s. The gentelman stated most people wouldn’t remember that because people growing up back east in the 60’s and 70’s seen much cooler weather.

Moral of the story is the enviromental wacko’s always fail to inform the public that weather patterns change and its natural and that man can NEVER affect how weather patterns change. The other fact was that weather patterns change very SLOWLY so when it may APPEAR man has F upped the enviroment and grandma is dieing it is because her punk son or grandson could give a crap about her and its not man that has caused grandma to die because of his SUV but her own F upped family who don’t give a crap about her or maybe that she was too cheap to buy an AC unit for her home instead of a bottle of, oh well who gives a crap, I don’t…

Well it's 100 degrees here right now with heat index of 107. That also includes areas at the beach. We rarely get this hot here. So for us it's news.

You ought to see the local TV station news here when there is snow. They warn people not to leave their house at the risk of serious injury. Anyone who deals with snow every winter would be amazed at the insane fear mongering they purport.

Funny, now that it's scorching hot on the Eastern coast. They didn't say anything when it is here in the Midwest.

Well, I have my own opinion about the media...the Media's main job is to strike fear in the public.

That's how they get ratings, or people to watch the news.

1. Man beheaded by stray dog...Story at 6
~OR~
2. Retailers report solid sales in July..story at 6

Which one will get more folks to watch 1 or 2?
See my point?

Or instead simply replace retailer with oil companies, the media is all over that one.

Yesterday, the local news station was doing a story on the heat by frying an egg on the sidewalk. It wasn't roped off so I swooped in and ate the egg. The cameraman and anchorman chased me for two blocks.

It turned out that I ran in the right direction. Channel 3 was frying bacon over on Lancaster St.
