oh boy, rattle, rattle, rattle, how I hate thy rattle
oh boy, rattle, rattle, rattle, how I hate thy rattle
I was going nuts last night after hearing what sounded like my brakes grinding, like metal and metal. Was also rattling like a bastard over small bumps that I never had before.
I used my e-brake yesterday for the first time so I was thinking the e-brake was locked up on me, so I took off the tires and did the inspection and took the calipers off but could not see what the problem is, but all I know is that I could hear it inside the cab and it was making me go insane.
I went to Auto zone today and figured if I replace the brake pads again the noise will go away, so I bought new ceramic brake pads, installed them in this 100 degree day heat index.
I took it for a ride and it didn't change! I was so pissed cause I thought the new brakes would make this grinding noise and rattle stop.
I decided to take my Vodka bottle and have a few swigs to try to clam me down, and all that did was make me go to sleep. After I got up a few hours later still buzzed a little bit, I went outside to take another look at this grinding rattling thing going on under the cab. I Kicked the front drivers tire out of frustration and holy cow! I duplicated the sound I was hearing.
So I crawled my *** under the truck and beat the tire with my hand trying to make the noise again and found out after all the damn heat shield was laying on top of the drive shaft making that noise I was hearing! So I tore it down and threw it away!
I didn't need no stinking brake pads after all, damn heat shield fell down somehow.
anyhow, thought you guys would like to know my fun day today. I really hate rattles, I can't stand em
