I live in south east PA and its been for this area very hot and humid.My house is 18 years old and the furnace is been in since day one.I had the cash and decided it was time to get ac and a new furnace installed.This house never had ac just heat.I told my boss I was getting bids on the work he said cool just let me know when you need off.I work wiring new homes and doing repairs after they are sold.We have been kinda slow so now is the best time to take off.
I got 5 bids and found a company I liked and price was fair for good units.I tell my boss 2 weeks in advance what day they are going to install every thing.He said no problem and wrote it down.I remind him 4 times leading up to the day.I call in the morning of the install to make sure they know that im not working.They knew and wished me good luck.The crews came at 7:30am and worked till 5:15 with only one break when I got them lunch it was way hot and I felt there pain.any way it went well and turned out nice.The next day I go to work and first thing before I hit the clock they tell me I will have to work the next 4 weekends to make up for the last min day off?I tell them I told my boss 2 weeks ago.They said BS we asked him and he said you told him the day before.Then it got out of hand...They sarted calling me names like looser and I started to get the urge to knock some one the F out.After 5 min or so of us yelling at one another in the middle of a shop with 90 others guys watching I was ready to beat some *** so I felt it best to walk away to avoid it.I go to my truck and sit inside to cool of and damn if they dont follow me to my truck still talking smack.I drive away to keep myself out of jail.So here I sit looking for a new job...It just kills me I tried to do the rite thing and tell them way ahead of time and I still get screwed.

 

That is unfortunate. You are doing the right thing by getting another job.
It could work out for the best.

 

They guys bustin my ***** own the place.I told them I let my boss know 2 weeks ago but they said he knew nothing till the day before.He would not even talk to me.They did not fire me I bailed.I would not have had a problem with it if it was 1 day to make up 1 day.8 days to make up 1 is not even close to fair.

 

Wanta borrow the .50 cal???. Just kidding. Your a better man than i because i would have left the place sloppy with people... You got it in writing . Go to the labor board and see if you have any recourse..

 

Why do you think he got something in writing? He didnt say that as far as I can tell.

 

He does not say but most places one works for has vacation/personal request slips. Fill one out and turn it in, if he did not then he forgot the one basic thing of life CYA!!!CYA...

That sucks, next time use e-mails if possible. We do everything by e-mail and I have every e-mail from the last 6 years saved. Seems like they are starting with you because money is tight.
