Computer RAM Question/Problem w/ DDR2
Hey guys,
I've had my computer for almost a year now that I built and I went with some pretty high-end stuff when I built it.
I used the ASUS P5GD2 Premium MOBO and 1 gig (2x512) Kingston Hyper DDR2 PC5400 675mhz RAM.
Today I went into my BIOS and after I hit DEL to prompt it I noticed the computer listed my ram AS pc2 3200 ram in the post. Obviously, my RAM is faster than that, but when I got into the BIOS I didn't see anywhere I could adjust the speed manually.
anyone know how I can adjust that?

Does the motherboard support PC5400 RAM? If not, I believe the RAM will default to the maximum speed supported by the motherboard. I base this answer on my recent research in buying more RAM for my notebook, so I may be complete wrong...
I Google'd the MOBO you mentioned and I found a few reviews that said that it supported DDR2 400MHz / 533MHz. (which is slower than 675MHz)

Wow, how the hell did I pull that off? I seriously checked and double checked before I ordered to make sure it would all work. I can't believe I did that.
Sigh.
Well, at this point would it be worth upgrading to a MOBO that could support my RAM? Or not worth the effort and $$ ?

If you do hard core pc games or edit tons of video it may be worth a few milisec
here and again.asus motherboards use jumpers on the main boad to control alot of features. You may want to check and see if it is a jumper issue.I did up a new pc about 6 months ago with an asus a7n8x and an amd 3200+ with 1 gig of 3200 ram and it runs just about every thing I throw at it.I would make sure of the settings and any jumpers but I dont think I would change boards to get faster ram it wont make a big seat of the pants change.
