Kobi sez . . . .
Kobi sez . . . .
Soooooo . . .
I’m not sure why I am disclosing this, I don’t normally share personal information other than a few select things, but for some weird reason I feel a need to inform those who might care (and to do it publicly just to bore those who don’t).
A little over a week ago I was diagnosed with cancer. At first it was though to be quite early and more likely completely treatable. At the end of last week blood tests indicated that it may possibly be otherwise so I spent Friday getting bone scans at the exciting Nuclear Medicine Department (some cool machines in that place) and I have CAT scans (along with more and seemingly endless bloodwork) scheduled for tomorrow, plus another/more biopsies, and possibly surgery soon.
Add to this I have been recovering from pneumonia this past week, along with having significant difficulty in preserving domestic tranquility (it seems to follow the implosion patterns of the middle-east these days and I’m thinking of calling in a U.N task force), and it occurs to me that whomever said “When it rains, it pours” was probably the wisest and most prophetic person ever to walk the planet. (I used to think that Schopenhauer was up there on the most awesome list, but it turns out some PR guy at Morton Salt is . . . who knew?)
My entries in the forum have been sporadic at best this past week, and will most likely remain sparse for a while. However, don’t think for a minute that I won’t still be popping in to be a condescending smart-*** who has his Wacom Tablet at the ready to lambaste, in words and pictures, any inane posts. And don’t you kids think I won’t be checking your spelling and grammar (even though I’d make fun of this sentence right here . . . but I’m gonna cut myself some slack).
Anyway, I just wanted to let y’all know.
Actually, now that I think of it, maybe y’all can take a moment to stop arguing with one another so often (a little is OK, but cool it would ya?), stop worrying about gas prices, don’t get so wound up that you end up ranting about the most insignificant of things (and especially go so far as to be proud of your rants by making a list), be more accepting of your brethren who own competing automotive brands, stop threatening each other and impugning each other’s manhood, and generally try to be a bit nicer to each other as there are a lot more important things than the garbage we often get into “debates” about here. Also, when you get home from work today, hug your family, tell the people you love that you love them, learn to love the ones you don’t, and be grateful . . . for whatever you have and the people in your life. And learn to be mindful (if you don’t know what that means start to read books by Thich Nhat Hanh). OK, that’s enough preaching for now.
Stay cool, say a prayer if you would (I’d appreciate that), and keep your fingers crossed.
Kobi
PS . . . winter is coming, oh yes it is.
(And I plan on being around for Christmas.)
:santa:
(Sorry PSS-MAG . . . I just had to throw the waving Santa in there)

Sorry to hear all that Kobi. I hope the best for you and appreciate your sharing with us. You will be in my prayers. It does put our problems in perspective!

Prayers will be sent up (I'm sure God has access to the personal records here to match the screen name to the man)
....talk about bringing everything into perspective.
Don't call the UN they can't handle anything right.
Seriously...you're in my thoughts and prayers.
I know we are only faceless names over the Internet and the likelyhood is slim but if there is anything I can do to help just let me know.
Jim.

Well, all I can say is, "that sucks."
Kobi, your a cool guy, and I always give you a hard time...but it's in all fun. You are in our prayers. I will give the family a big hug tonight and pray.
God bless and keep us up to date as possible. Also, if you need anything, you know where to find us.

You'll be in all our thoughts and prayers (Resisting urge to bash non-believers)
I've enjoyed reading everything you write, from Ask Kobi, to Kobi for President, to Where's Kobi. Your tops in my book. Prayers will be said.

Sorry to hear this news, even though most of wouldn't know one and other if we bumped into each other, it still seems like an oversize Walton's family here and on a few of the other forums i visit.
No prayers here, but always good thoughts for you and your/our family.
Now lets go bash some heads.

Prayers from S Texas. My father just finished battling colon cancer (stage 4, I believe) and to hear him tell the story he always uses the punch line, "So now I have a semi-colon". :o
Anyhoo, good luck with your treatments.

i have no one to pray to, so i will think positive thoughts for you.
i hope the test results will be in your favor and they can get you on the path to recovery soon.
i've been through alot medically, and have seen the difference a positive attitude can make. it sounds like yours is right on the mark, so whatever you do, don't lose it.
i wish you the best of luck, and the strength to whip this things a$$.
(also hope my lack of capitalization will keep the fire burning, just a little bit)

Thanks y'all so far for the kind words. It is appreciated.
Now that's funny. Sorry to hear about your father but am glad to hear he is making it thru this. Speaking of funny, went to the gym today for the first time in a couple weeks as my lungs were finally clear enough from the pneumonia to exercise.
So I have my iPod on and what to I hear?
First to come up is John Lennon and I hear
"Instant Karma's gonna get you
Gonna knock you right in the head
Better get yourself together
Pretty soon you're gonna be dead"
Sooooo . . . I change to the next song, only to hear Tori Amos singing
"... Things are getting kinda gross . . .
This is not really happening
You bet your life it is . . . "
Sooo . . . I advance to the next song, only to hear Don Henely singing
" . . . Oh, no no no, I will not lie down
Turn this thing around
I will not go quietly
I will not lie down . . . "
so I'm thinking I'll turn off the iPod and just listen to the public PA system that plays music . . . only to hear Britney Spears singing . . .
". . . don't you know that you're toxic?"
Well, if you can't see the humour in that, I guess one just can't see humour.
Funny stuff.
Someone is sending me a message. Time to listen.

I promise to be kinder and gentler to all the thousands points of light that post here, as per your request for as long as I possibly can.
Best wishes for your speedy recovery my friend.
