Cant hurt to give it a try at least once. I thought it was silly too, until I tried it. Now I use em every chance I get.

I remember for our wilderness survival badge we had to go out in the forest & find leaves that you could use for toilet paper...WE DIDNT HAVE TO ACTUALLY USE THEM, but the leaves we were supposed to find were large, sorta thick, and fuzzy if I remember correctly.
