here is a video of a Ferrari driving through Paris.
this video link is safe but rest of site may not be safe.
i wonder how fast Kobi can do it when he goes back to Paris.
On an August morning in 1978, French filmmaker Claude Lelouch mounted a gyro-stabilized camera to the bumper of a Ferrari 275 GTB and had a friend, a professional Formula 1 racer, drive him at breakneck speed through the heart of Paris. The film was limited for technical reasons to 10 minutes; the course was from Porte Dauphine, through the Louvre, to the Basilica of Sacre Coeur.
No streets were closed, for Lelouch was unable to obtain a permit.
The driver completed the course in about 9 minutes, reaching nearly 140 MPH in some stretches. The footage reveals him running real red lights, nearly hitting real pedestrians, and driving the wrong way up real one-way streets.

First off, Kobi™ wants to make it absolutely clear that he does not condone such crazed acts as were demonstrated on the video and thinks that anyone doing such things, even when they are a professional race car driver and the car is a Ferrari, is foolish and just downright stupid!!!
That said, that was kind of cool!
That was shot almost 30 years ago and at the break of dawn so as to have the least amount of traffic. Today, even at dawn the streets would not be that empty and to make it from Pt. Dauphine to Sacré Coeur could take a very long time. For example, here is a pic of traffic near Porte Dauphine (You can see the sign for the turn to Pt. Dauphine in the upper right) in the morning.
Ferrari boy would have been sitting still in traffic just like the Opel in the foreground if he tried to make that drive today at the same hour.
Actually, I've never driven in Paris. I am not foolish enough to try it. You can get from any place to any place via the Metro (even CDG airport if you use the RER) So, I personally wouldn't be able to make that drive in any amount of time since I refuse to drive there.

The race car driver drove better than Cheach and Chong ( going up in smoke...Holly sheap ****...) How ever I doubt the 275 GTB lived after being red lined in the 9 min trip..
It's fun when the broken lines become solid, I don't drive like that any more...I had cars that would move in a stright line, but none that would cut cornors out of exsisting turns..

Interesting and, I suppose, every man's dream.
Seems to me like the only thing he may have hit were a couple of birds (pigeons??).
Must have been my PC's player, but it seemed to go at about 1/3 speed for the visual but 100% for the audio. Anyone else feel/see the same?
Thanks, Lee for the link.

Hi Lee:
I am here at least 2-3 times a day, just don't have a lot of time and some of the subject matter is sort of over my head anymore.
As I get older and get into some of the threads, it seems I become a thread killer as I try too hard to get an overall perspective going instead of just a shoot from the hip reaction sort of post. As my wife says, who is 1/8Cherokee, the young braves are just waiting for me to go up to the top of the mountain and die and the sooner the better.
As to the member count, age brings patience. I am waiting for 100,000 and as I have told Steve, it will be like a NASA launch. I will be on that puppy by the milli-second.
.
It's all good, Lee, and I still enjoy reading the posts even if I don't respond so much anymore.
