I've pulled floats in the christmas parade for the last several years.

2 years ago we decided to start throwing out candy so we bought 100lbs.
It was gone before we got 1/2 way thru.

Last year we bought 200lbs and put in the bed of my truck!
It was gone before we got 1/2 thru the parade route.

In our parade last year, I was almost arrested. I brought several bags of candy with me and was having a great time throwing it to all the kids along the route. A local policeman noticed me and told me to stop throwing the candy. I thought he was kidding, and heaved a few more handfuls. He asked me to exit the car and had a long talk with me. Apparently it's against the law to throw candy out of moving vehicles during parades in our county. They claim it creates a dangerous situation for children that run into the street to retrieve the candy.
When was the last time you read about a kid getting run over by a vehicle moving at 2 MPH during a parade?

It's the same here, started a couple of years ago, we have to have walkers that hand it out now.
I thought I hit a kid about 4-5 years ago. Came out of the crowd and ran right smack dab in font of me. I barely seen the top of his head over the passenger fender, just happened to see him out of the corner of my eye. I slammed on the brakes and he disappeared in front of the hood. I never heard him hit anything, but he wasn't coming out either. My ears where peeled. I heard the suspension of the truck and trailer/float as the weight was shifted when I hit the brakes. I heard everyone on the trailer/float stumbeling to catc hthier balance. I heard several people that were watching on the side lines gasp. Then what seemed like minutes later, he came out the other side and I sighed. Little booger scared the bejesus out of me.
