Drove from Albuquerque NM to somewhere in MO.

While passing thru the Texas panhandle you go thru Groom TX, which has the biggest cross in the western hemisphere, or maybe it's the second biggest. It's the size of a 20 story building. It's just sort of there. It's really big. You certainly don't see anything like that in Lost Angeles.

Another thing, while driving through TX and OK (which can get pretty boring at times) I saw more F250s and F350s and Dodge 25 and 3500s and Chevy 25 and 3500s in one day than I have seen in my entire life combined.

And it appears people actually USE the big trucks for real reasons (as opposed to whatever it is they do with them here in Lost Angeles).

Another thing, I saw more cows in one day than I have ever seen.

And, in case any of y'all were thinking about it . . . don't ever try to drive across most of the country in a sports car. No matter how much "fun" you might think it is . . . it isn't.

Nowhere, fast.

Actually, not that fast. There was a ton of road construction almost the entire way.

Was in KC for a day, then flew back.

Had a friend who drove from NM to KC-MO so went with them to experience a "roadtrip".

Not doing that again anytime soon.

Kind of like taking Amtrak. After traveling "round trip coach" by train from Minneapolis, MN, to El Paso, TX, I understood why passenger jets were invented!

Actually though, I'm looking forward to the day when my "little booger" is old enough to throw him in the car and head off for a week or two every summer to hit all the tourist traps that are scattered around this country!

A morning spent looking at the world's largest ball of kite string, an afternoon spent in the pool of the Holiday Inn Express, and an evening meal at the local diner -- it just doesn't get more "Americana" than that!
