Guantanamo Bay Prison: (Your thoughts)
Guantanamo Bay Prison: (Your thoughts)
Hardly a day has gone by in the last 7-10 days without me hearing something about a proposal to change the way business is done on Guantanamo Bay Prison, up to and possibly including closing the prison.
I've never been there, but I believe we're treating our prisoners far better than one could expect to be treated in prison by another country. Afterall, it is a prison, it's not the Waldorf Astoria.
I'm just wondering what you guys think about Git-Mo. Should it be closed? Should it remain open?

In WWII (when this nation was being run by "Grandpa Lib" -- hmmmmm.....) we just extracted the information we wanted from our hard-core prisoners and then shot them, so I would say the folks at Gitmo have it pretty good!
Or I suppose we could just do what our current enemy does -- cut their heads off with a kitchen knife and then post the pictures on the web...

Then, I wouldn't ask them any questions. Just put them in either place, with just enough clothign & heat to make it survivable, but not comfortable by any means- perhaps a climate controlled 43 degrees during the day time, and 36 at night and just a sheet- no blankets. Couple that with whatever the weather is outside, and that's a recipe for misery. Meanwhile, the guard-shack would be 75 degrees.
For the ones in Death Valley, a cracked window, 4 oz. water cups, warm water, hot coffee, and the thickest blanket available- and let the climate do it's work from there. For meals, various soups, such as: Hot veggy soup, grits, oatmeal, etc.. Guard shack to be maintained at a cool 69 degrees.
I'd never ask any questions other than? Are you comfortable? Can we do anything for you? Then I'd end by saying, let us know when you're ready to talk. This would be accompanied by cold MRE's, round the clock. No gym, no weights, and lots of scantily clad personnel, walking around clearly visible, but completely inaccessible.
After about 37 days of that- with no end in sight, or women, they'd be singing like canaries, and no one would have to lay a hand on them. trust me, being taken out of your element by foirce, then not asked for anything- would irk most people to no end.
I've spent 30 miserable days in blistering heat like that, with no AC and no ice. After the 10th day, I knew this would be my last enlistment. The only form of a break we got was a cold shower every 3 days, and let me tell you, being near (but not near enough) Soccorro, New Mexico is just as hot as it sounds! About half-way through, they finally let us go into Soccorro, where I promptly bought an ice chest, 2 cases of soda, and four bags of ice. The ice would last maybe 2 days. My shelter was air conditioned, but the air out there was so arid, the AC wouldn't work (no humidity)- so we ended up havign to turn it off, and open the doors. We put up commoflage for "shade". Man, it was hot out there...
It's amazing the little things you take for granted, until you don't have them- and can't get them. Who knew?

I thought it up!
Personally I am all for just closing it down IF:
Each prisoner is forced to live with the loud mouth liberals who keep yapping about Guantanamo Bay Prison. Each of those liberals would be FORCED to have one of these nut cases living with them at all times, in their presences at ALL times, basically handcuffed together.
This would make me feel warn and fuzzy knowing these poor prisoners are well taken care of and looked after to insure they don't do any terrorist things. If they do then they and the liberal responsible would be shot to death.
Sounds fair to me, what say you?

I heard Whoopie Goldberg offer a similiar plan, for all of us who are against abortion- we get to keep the babies and pay all the bills...
I didn't like what she said because I'm anti-abortion, but- it was pretty darn funny.)
I've got to stop listening to comedy on XM radio, before I end-up wreckign my truck in a laughing attack.
Wow! Great question! We all like to see the bad guys get their due, and if I had the ability to truly identify and capture the guilty, I'd like to turn them loose on the streets of New York City after a public announcement. Unfortunately, I'm often wrong and could possibly set up the wrong person for some nasty thumping. Should I turn them over to a bureacracy to decide their fate? Well, several years ago I sat on a jury on a civil case and was shocked to see that within the jury of my peers, common sense was not common. I wondered if some of them were in the same courtroom as I, or if they were from a different planet. I came to realize that many of us process information that's not exactly copacetic with the notion of common sense. I came away pondering that if this was a criminal trial where I was a defendant accused of murder, there might be a high chance for a wrong outcome. If I were truly guilty (as in O.J.) I might walk. If I was innocent...well, let's not go there. Please let me be a rich man if the situation ever occurs. Now, I've just decribed a real experience within our legal system. A legal system that despite it's flaws is still probably the best and fairest in the world. Let's switch to Gitmo now, run by another bureaucracy (CIA?/Military?) outside of our legal system, where we know several 'inmates' have already been released with an 'oops'; The Gitmo being run by people like us in semi secrecy, each inmate presumed guilty. Without getting into the pitfalls of the presumption of guilt, this place as it is, brings us down to the same level of the Taliban, Al Qe??? d*ck head b*stards that we hate. I prefer that we shine some light on Gitmo and give the American public the oppoutunity to see exactly why each of the inmates is there. Who, why, when, bounty paid? military or contractor capture, etc. Shine some light in and give us back the moral high ground. If you got this far, thanks for reading this, and whether we agree or not I do respect your opinion.

how would you feel about staying there with them? We can treat you like crap and stick IVs in you and cut your head off. You can run around naked while Marines smack your pecker with a whip or a telephone book. They can smack you around a little and burn bibles in front of you. They can desecrate pictures of Christ too while thye are at it.
Its no different with the current prisoners.
None of those prisoners have been found guilty yet. Nor have they been given a trial. That seems pretty clear to me. If they are guilty enough to detain in such a fashion, there must be enough evidence to prosecute. If theyare guilty, hang them. Show no mercy. But to imprison without a trial....
That isn't bleeding heart liberalism. That goes against everything the constitution was written to protect.
Just think about that as you drink some beer and wave the flag on Tuesday.

We neither have to claim or prove we have the moral high ground since we do INDEED HAVE the moral high ground. We always have and most likely always will…
It’s actually quite simple, we are the good guys and they are the bad guys…

Until then they are on their own as we are not the world’s babysitter nor the people in charge of making everyone feel warm and fuzzy…

Has America killed innocent civilians before? Absolutely, not on purpose and not to terrorize people into our way of thinking and living but rather during wars or conflicts started by others.
It is not America’s fault when innocent people die such as in Iraq because that responsibility falls to Saddam himself. Had he acted responsible, and as he legally obligated himself to, he could have avoided innocent people dieing…
If we are talking about nukes and Japan, then again, that was Japans governments responsibility and it was Japan who was responsible for all those deaths of innocent people, had it not been for their actions no innocent people would have ever died.
It’s about responsibility and accountability which many nations in the past have failed to have or claim. I have yet to hear any terrorist organization claim that if it were not for them many innocent people killed by Americas actions would have never happen.
Going a step further I have never heard Japan state that if it were not for their actions the nukes would have never been dropped and thus all those innocent people would have not had to die. They died because of JAPAN and it’s actions NOT America…
