Atv's

I have a 92' YFS Big Bear 350 4X4. It has been awhile since I rode it and I had a blast. I took the front and back racks off and the winch off(didn't work half the time). Well I was riding it today and I noticed that the back end was sliding out a lot...it got sideways several times. It also seemed a ton faster...Could taking the back rack and front rack and the winch really make that much of a difference or was it just in my mind that it was faster....I liked it alot better now than then. So taking off that wight would it make it that much faster...it was accelerating faster.

Weight makes alot of difference.

I have a front storage/cd/mp3/speaker box on mine, and when I take the box off it goes faster. I weigh about 300 pounds and when my 180 pound friend rides my atv it runs the 300 foot drag around one second quicker.

I wanna live where you live 04 RED LARIAT.

Beautiful country.

Is that job offer still open? With relocation, of course.

So maybe it is for real...Going into a turn does the backend fishtail...I can manhandle this 4-wheeler now...I don't do any serious riding its just sort of a play toy....I want to get either a raptor or a 400EX...a sport machine...Most of my buddies have ATV's...

More than likely the jetting is better due to temperatures. Ill tell you a couple of free mods. 1. Open the exaust up, basically gut it and install a larger end cap pipe on it. 2. Clip the carb slide spring smaller by two rings 3. open the airbox up, DONT DO THIS IF YOU RIDE IN WATER. Then from there maybe a cam.

I have a kodiak 450 with similar mods and it is alot quicker, weight makes little difference. The big bear is a fourwheeler set up for low speeds and mudding, needs some help for higher speeds. Oh yeah and progressive suspension rear lift to smooth the ride out much better.

Well thanks for the free mods but I'm not dumping any money into the atv. Last night when the sun was going down and the grass had some dew on it I couldn't keep that dern thing striaght I would run it had toward the ditch right before our woods and then downshift and the dern thing would do a 360...It was fun. I like riding at my grandmas she lives on a gravel road an I go flying down that road. I'd like to get a new ATV but they are so expensive. I don't like the idea of spending more money on one than my truck. I bought my truck for 5 grand and a new fourwheeler would run every bit of that and probably more.

Those mods wont cost you really a penny. Althought the jets might cost you 2 bucks or so. IT will be a completely different quad.

It is unlikely that taking the racks and winch off made much of a difference. It is probably just because you haven't ridden it in awhile. Gotta love that feeling though....
