Part 7 was a good read

Seems a bit over the top to me?

I dont understand the part "No credit History" can held against you by your employer....

Background checks and even a check of your credit score is one thing but prying into your personal purchases is just wrong in my opinion. It is absolutely none of an employers business what I buy or where and when I buy it. I'd have a hard time signing a paper allowing them to do it. I guess if I really needed the job I'd reconsider but I'd have to be living on Top Ramen first. Hope you guys get it taken care of Zap.

I agree. I haven't read the link in Steve's post yet but I don't have any problem with an employer knowing my credit SCORE, or doing a criminal record check. There is absolutely no reason for them to know that I took my girlfriend out to dinner last night and payed with my Amex.
If you go by Steve's example, there is only mention of knowing a potential employee's credit score (whether or not they payed their CC bill on time) not a complete, detailed history of purchases/dates/amouts.

hmmm, you make $70k per year with the employer, but you spend $200k a year on your credit card.

Red flag.

Nowhere in zap's spouse's employer's request does it say anything about wanting or needing to know about what she has purchased. What the employer is legally requesting is for her to sign a release in order to be able to pull her credit report, which has become part of a background check process for many employers, if necessary. Nothing more. No need to jump to any further conclusions about them wanting to know what specifically she is purchasing on a personal credit or debit card. That's not what they are asking for.

I was just going by what Zap wrote:

I can totally understand a credit report, employers have the right to protect themselves but he said they could "pry into what she buys" that's not their business.

I think he misinterpreted their request, which is why he posted, as their actual request is also in his first post, "notification and authorization for release of consumer reports.."...I agree with you 100%, an employer has no right to know what I've purchased, unless it is purchased with a corporate credit card.

I was basically told all of the paper work had to be completed before we could leave and the one about our consumer reports said they could check anything (past and present) after signing the paperwork, which I didn't want to, but knew I could not keep my job unless I did. That's the bottom line, they can look into anything I've purchased. That's how the government works....!
