Some Things Never Change . . .

Many years ago, when I was in college, I lived in the residence commons on campus. We have a fairly sizable dining hall and the meals that they served (three per day) were, for the most part, pretty good. However, every now and then (about three times a week) they would serve something that left a lot to be desired. It was at times such as that that we would cover our meals with cheese. Whatever it was, you'd just go to where the grated cheese was kept and pile it on. Lots of cheese will make even the worst meal palatable.

This past weekend, one of my friends sons graduated and we all went out to cheer him on. Later that afternoon at a big party we threw for him I was talking to him about how he liked school and what it was like living there. One thing he mentioned . . . dorm food . . . and putting cheese on everything to make it edible.

Some thirty years later and kids are still doing the same thing to make dorm food tolerable.

Ah. Good times.

I have no idea why I brought this up. Just thought I'd share.

Interesting post Kobi. Thanks for sharing that.

On a similar note, when I was in the Corps, we used to do something somewhat similar. Except, it was bread. I swear, I would prolly down a whole loaf of bread a day.

hmmm, prolly why I have diabetes now. :o

Hey, can I get your input on a a post in the Random thought thread?

Thanks for sharing Kobi. I've never eaten dorm food so I can't comment on the quality of the food but cheese is good!!

That sounds like my mom's dinners. She takes the leftovers, flips them over in a pan, throws on some cheese, and calls it a casserole

I tell my mother that all the time. Lot's of times I'll ask her whats for dinner, she'll tell me, and I'll go, well, looks like I'm having McDonalds/BK/Jack/etc.
