So I called the new owners this morning per their request.... Galena is showing a remarkable new attitude and is up and playing. Apparently she's been following the lady of the house around all morning nipping at her ankles... she mentioned that she has been a playful puppy all morning... also, the wormer that I gave her yesterday following that trip to Wal-Mart is kicking in... I won't get graphic here like Galena's owner did but, let's just say the wormer is working and apparently she had them pretty bad.

Life is good in puppyville.

She looks at least part Walker Coon Hound. Sweet face. They are great dogs.

You know... I maybe would've done that... This little gal' had me hook, line, and sinker... I just don't have the room for her though. It wouldn't be fair of me to bring her home...

I'm comfortable with my decision as the folks I gave her to are very good people who I've known for several years from my travels into this region for work. Galena is in good hands.

Plus, I believe Lexi (my mutt at home which is like our daughter) might not care much for a sister... LOL... I think she likes being the only child and, honestly, I think we like it that way too.

Well I'm going to pat you on the back like everyone else who has posted RP. Great job on this one! However, you were actually doing multiple good deeds that day. One was helping to clean up that neighborhood from harmful rock and soil (even though you were being paid, it's still a risk you're taking that has a positive net result), and saving that puppy.

I'll be honest, when I was reading and you said the puppy threw up on the way to the shelter, I thought, fewww hopefully he has his Husky liners in the KR. Glad to hear it was the work truck though, either way it would have cleaned out easily...just been a little stinky.

Made this horrid day of mine go a little better knowing a good deed like this was done. This has been a rough week with work and there has definitely been a lack of good deeds going on where I'm assigned and it's definitely getting to me. Time to do some "clean-up" today, it's not moving cantaminated soil, but's it's cleaning up corporate america which is possibly just as dirty.

RP,

As if we needed more proof of your real character, that was awesome. Nice job! Many of us have weak spots in out hearts for animals, but some folks are just plain cruel. You apparently saved that puppy from somebody like that.

My sister has a Rotweiller that she saved as a puppy. He was being used to train other dogs to fight. He's absolutely the most intelligent, loving and friendly dog on the face of this earth. When you look in his eyes, there's something magical there. I think it's his way of thanking my sister for saving him. Oh yea, and she's a lifetime cat person!

Keep up the good work and thank you!

THANKS - RP, from all the rest of us who might have done the same, but couldn't, or just weren't around.

CUTE little Dog, kinda skinny, but a good home will take care of that.

LOOKS like it may even be part Beagle (my favorite dog, they take a LOT of working with them when young (maybe that is why you see so many given up or deserted), but WELL worth it). I'd take it in a heartbeat if it were closer to me!

My gf makes me go back to check, sure enough. I went back and the traffic was stopped, headlights on the kitten. I'm such a damn sucker for animals. Thought it was ran over, nobody was getting out of their cars but instead honking at the limping thing. I pulled up right next to it with cars surrounding it and picked it up. A car followed me into the parking lot asking if it was ok...shoulda got out and looked for herself. So I went and bought forumula, it was real young. Fed it for a little bit and built it a little place to lay in my room. Gf fell asleep and I typed away here on F150online. I could hear the little thing squirming around from time to time, and it eventually just stopped. I took a look at it and knew it wasn't alright. Unfortunately it didn't make it, I felt real bad but told myself we did what we could. Hope I made it's passing as pleasant as possible compared to that busy street with cars 100x her size.
Josiah, considering what you already have "on your plate" T H A N K S
from other animal lovers on this board!

Thanks for the 'atta boy' comments guys. I'm not looking to put myself up on a pedastool... more so, I wanted to put this on the table so that someone else may consider 'helping' rather than walking away. I won't start preaching or anything here but, I do believe that there's a better place and that it never hurts to earn some good will towards that better place's cause.

More of an update on Galena:

She's put on a pound or two already since I found her according to the new owners. She's back to 'puppy status' and is starting to chew on things that she shouldn't and is crying/wimpering through the night. LOL! I'm going to try to go by there today and see her.

She would've been great to have her in the truck while rolling around to all of these places where I'm working over in this neck of the woods but, she's better off where she's sitting as we speak. I put a lot of miles on a vehicle over here (nearly 4k in 3 weeks)... it's nice to have the thought of her in my head while rolling down the road... it always brings a smile.

I have yet to buy an animal.

Somehow I found stranded or distressed animals, pay to have a vet get them healthy, begin a search for a "good" home for them and years later they are still staring me in the face while I watch TV.

I'm a freaking soft hearted sissy when it comes to animals and kids.
