sure, my photoshop filters will run quicker, but for most of us, it's reached the point of being useless. Does it help you type faster? Granted, in supercomputing it's helpful, but for 99.999% of us, this is what you get:

"Wow! Word™ opened up really quick there!!!! And look, the spell correction is really fast! My writing still sucks though, and I still don't write quickly. Oh well. I wonder what will happen on American Idol tonight?" (Walks away from computer and into a wall).

When chips are so fast that they can execute something, say a photoshop filter, BEFORE you even request it, THEN they will have something! The Intel Precognitive Processor!!!! That's the ticket!

I could see it helping in a lot of apps. Ever convert formats on video. When doing the compression, especially if heavy compression to save space, the processor is working very hard.
No, it won't help with moving a few pixels around with photoshop, but when doing long running/processor heavy apps, it will help a lot. I can see it being a big help on something as straight forward as AV scanning where it has to wade through a lot of data.

It's VERY useful to many people. Games are still causing problems for even the most high-end computers on the market.

this sounds awesome to me.

Oh, and YOU should be excited because this could mean massive improvements in integrated electronics capabilities in all kinds of areas...ie cars/trucks, buildings, workplace, etc

Uh, I was kidding y'all. I was making amazingly great and pithy use of sarcasam to have a little fun.

Kingfish . . . I worked in video post production for about 25 years. I totally understand the value. Doing CGI and telecine, and other such stuff, in 4K reaps tremendous benefits from this.
