Plug wire reconnecting question

I just put new plugs in my 2001 V8 5.4 and not sure if I put the spark plug wires back on correctly..howevwer they are in the correct order but are they suppose to snap on to the ends of the plugs? If so how? They are long springs inside the rubber gromit and the wires each have a screw that holds them in place, which doesn't allow me to push them down any further. Is there a way to know it theya re on correct?

Anything would help! I am gonna start taking them out again soon and don't want to make the same mistake if that be the case.

Thanks!

Start up the truck and listen to it run. If it seems that a cylinder or two isn't firing, then you know one or more of the wires isn't connected.
