Paleoconservatism is the expression of rootedness: a sense of place and of history, a sense of self derived from forebears, kin, and culture—an identity that is both collective and personal. This identity is missing from the psychological and emotional makeup of leftists of every stripe—including “neoconservatives”—and is now disavowed by mainline conservatives of the Republican variety, seemingly bent on eradicating as much of the primeval stain as they can from their consciousnesses while apologizing for the faint discoloration that remains.

Republican. While I have voted for an occasional Democrat in local elections (usually no Republican or Independent opponent), I haven't seen a Democrat that has appealed to me on the state and national levels where I am registered to vote. To be honest, both parties have really sucked recently.

The only choices at the polls have been for the lesser of two evils here lately, and I tend to lean more Republican.

I learned a valuable lesson from a 'famous' gunboard 'troll' named Imbroglio. When you vote for evil, you get evil. There's always a write in or a 3rd party.

Ole Ross fawked himself and I really want to know what went on behind the scenes. Regardless winning or losing is not the oject. Voting my conscience is. YMMV

YMMV???

Oh but winning or losing is definitely the object. Are you saying that you only vote because it makes it easier to look into a mirror, or because you're trying to put the right guy in the right place? Or maybe just keep the wrong guy out?

YMMV = Your Mileage May Varry

All of the above. Sitting it out means I would be part of the problem.

Yes, it does. It was the 'winning or losing is not the object' statement that threw me off. I mean, if you don't care, why vote? If you do care, then make every effort to ensure that your canidate wins... Short of cheating, that is.

Edited to add: I know that you care from the multiple debates that we've had... Not implying otherwise...

And even thought we don't agree, you've earned my respect, and I'll always address you with the respect.

I should have phrased 'winning or losing is not the object' a little differently. I don't vote for the guy I think will win just so I can say "I voted for him". I vote for whomever best represents my views which as of late is no one in the big two, whome from my view are very much the same in all but a few areas.

I am very passionate about these subjects and do my best to keep it civil and on topic.
