Wiring Help ... on a Boat

I am about to rewire a 1969 Boston Whaler. How does this power strip work?

Obviously from the battery, to the strip and from the strip to the lights. etc. But how do you run the pos and neg from the battery to the strip to give it power? And what gauge wire should I use from the battery to the strip?

Leave it to the g/f to make me look stupid. She's just trying to help out.

BTW, she posted this.

She didn't believe that I knew how to do it. She was afraid that I'd "electrocute" myself. Ha ha! Off of a marine battery! Tingle, yes, electrocute, no.

Things are good here. Staying busy at work, staying drunk on the lake. Life's tuff.

At least your G/F is smart enough to post pictures on here! Some guys on here can't even do that.

+1 on the fuse box

As for the wire from the battery to the distribution point it is going to depend. You need to figure out the total load of all the components when on, then figure out how long the wire will be from the batter to the distribution point. Can't remember it off the top of my head but there is a chart somewhere that shows amp draw vs. length to figure out the gauge wire. If you want to be safe just use some 0ga.

TUFF..thats the worst thing Boston Whaler ever did. I still cant believe to this day, that they ever worked for more than 6 months.....

Anyway, Im sure you have it figured out by now. The power comes from that block, runs to the dash adn then back to the block. You might even have a black box mounted next to it with a bunch of wires in it...Let me know if you need any help.

How you been bro? Haven't seen ya in a while.

Oh yeh..if the gf is ok with you having a boat, I say keep her around for a while..
