Got a speeding ticket in B.C.

I posted this in the Canada section, but am not sure that very many people who might have the answer ever read that forum... so I'm posting it here too.

I got a speeding ticket in British Columbia about 3 years ago and never paid it and it never did go on my Alberta drivers abstract which was the whole point of not paying it in the first place. Now after all this time, the BC government has sent the ticket to a collections agency of some sort who keeps hounding me to pay the damn ticket, they call almost daily and leave messages when I'm at work and send me mail once in awhile and are threatening that it will affect my credit rating (which obviously I don't want). The ticket was only about $150 or something like that, so its nothing really to just pay. The question however is that will paying it now show up on my drivers abstract?

Bro what the hell is an abstract??. The collection service gets a big cut of the money you owe.

Drivers abstract is a driving record for the last so many years, showing speeding tickets, traffic violations, accidents etc. The insurance companies us this to determine your insurance rate.

I live in B.C. if it has not yet shown up on your abstract I doubt it would.
Sending it to collections is their last resort because they do not have an other means of collecting. Pay and save the receipt. I think that if it has gone for collections there is not an arrest warrent issued.

I would not worry about it, but if your pulled over by the RC's in BC or the Vancover police and they run your license and find a unpaid ticket, they can arrest you if a bench warrant was issued....The only thing that will effect your credit is that abc collections inquired on your breure, a speeding ticket, moving violation has nothing to with your credit...now if your have a history of tickets in one province, you may l not be able to renew your Alberta drivers license in Alberta, DMB and insurance company's can now go interprovincial with abstracts...

What is a breure? I don't have a history of tickets in BC, well maybe one other one from about 10 years ago that I never paid either and nothing ever happened with that one, wasn't even mentioned when I got the last ticket (the ticket in question now). I have had no problems renewing my registration here in AB, so that doesn't concern me either at this point. I just don't want points showing up on my abstract from a ticket from that long ago.
Maybe I will just ignore it unless the collections agency doesn't give up, then I will tell the guy that he earned my business and give him the cash, maybe he's on commission and needs to feed his family too

well the way I see it, you were speeding. You were in the wrong, got ticketed, now pay up. After all, it's your fault (no offence) who cares if it goes on ur record, its the truth, you were speeding, so suck it up and pay the bill
