My last tank was a 55 with a big Oscar, he? was a great fish!

When younger I had a 20 I belive and slammed it with my palm in a rage (I had some issues...) the tank shattered and poured fish into my room.

Cut my hand good on it too, remember going to drivers ed class and bleeding all over the desk afterward.

Ahh my foolish youth, sometimes memories come back like tendrils of light through the early morning mist.

I have a 55 gallon freshwater now. Have had a few other tanks before, including salt water. Like the beauty of the saltwater more, but don't like the extra cost and trouble.

Mine is a community tank, set up 1 year ago. I enoy a peaceful, colorful community of small fish.

Current inhabitants include:

Approx. 20 neon tetras
4 silver dollars
Common pleco (about 8" - biggest fish in the tank)
2 small clown loaches
1 cory cat
Male Beta
Female Beta
1 male and 2 female marigold sword tails

My kids really enjoy it and it is not much work at all.

I am in the beggining stages of setting up a 55 gal. and stocking it with little guys from my pond out back. It will have perch, bass, sunnies, calico bass, and some small cats... we shall see how it goes...

I've got a 55 gallon that I've had setup for some 10 years now. At the moment, it's got Koi in it. Only three of them because they are getting pretty big now. Been in there for almost two years now. Before that, it was always a community tank of tropical fish.

I'm still in the 'planning' stage for the Koi pond in the back yard. Been planning for 8 years now! ha, ha.... Every time I get motivated to do it, something comes up and I put it off.... I think I'll do it this summer....

Couple more photos:

The last one is showing a Striped Raphael Cat. Not mine but looks just like him. My cat hides in the rock tube and only comes out at night. Hard to get a pic of him...

Wow, who'd a thunk.

I have a 75, 30 and 40 in the living room, all planted with CO2 injection and high lighting, 8 20's and 4 30's in the basement for breeding and grow out and I just set up a 150 gallon tub outside to start the pond plants going while I install my soon to be 600 gallon water garden in the front yard.

I'm more into plants than fish really, but it's all good.

This is my 75:

Well, I took the plunge. I decided to get the tank out and get it going again as I redo my office. So far, have had it running for three days now, two big and two small gold fish are the tester fish to see if all is well, so far so good...

Going to add some more first first of next week... not sure which ones to add though... anyone have any ideas?

I know just the basics, but if you get serious about it, these guys on this forum are great people and always willing to help. Also, if you search (just like here) you'll find the answer to your questions, as I'm sure someone has already asked:

Used to have a 55Gal marine, now I have a 25Gal marine. No deaths in over a year (makes it kinda boring ).

I found the following site to be invaluable.
