I feel your pain Karen mine are also 13' high and are a bitch to keep clean, best way is not to use them... or there is a fan blade cleaning tool with a extension that will reach.

I propose:
leave one fan blade alone (control)
clean one blade with water
clean one blade with regular furniture polish
clean one blade with a dryer sheet
and clean one blade with sleddogg's Eagle One detail spray

all blades would obviously be marked to identify what was used to clean it

let the fan run for 6 months continuous. Atthe end of 6 months the dust buildup would be evaulated, and the results noted.
I hypothosize the dirty will remain the dirtest, followed by therest being relatively close in dirtiness.

Now all I have to do is find some government entity to give me a $500,000 grant to complete the scientific evaluation
But my fans only have 4 blades

Oh wait!! I have 2 of them so that's 8 blades total, that'll work.

I've seen that. In fact I bought an extension duster but it doesn't have the fan attachment, I need to get one of those. The duster I have has a 15' extension pole, the peak of my ceiling is 26' and with the 10' step ladder and the duster I can reach to dust the beams way up there!

26 feet screw that no one will be able to see the dust anyways, lol
I would install an airline way up there that up just turn on every so often and clean them.

If a fan gathers dust, etc. because of static build up, why not just reverse the fan to remove the static. Then the accumulated dust should just fly off when the static reverses polarity. Don't you agree, Kobi?

Then the dust would collect on the bottom of the fan blade!

If wild-mtn-rose can't stand it when the dust is on top of the blade, then imagine the shape she would be in if it was on the bottom where everyone could see it!

Not only that, but if the fan is turning in the opposite direction, that will not stop the friction.

Don't know about dust on fans, but now I gotta find a way to clean coffee off of an lcd screen.
