Anyone else have fishing seasons?

I moved to Canada five years ago from WV.

In WV we fish year round, hot cold, whatever.

Here, there is a season for everything. Walleye and Trout are open now, Muskie opens in two weeks (caught a good one last weekend and couldn't keep it) and bass not until the last Saturday in JUNE!

I understand the ecological ramifications and all of that crap, but this is way past rediculous, this is communist!

you can't fish for bass until the last saturday in JUNE?!

Im catach and relase mostly, but they are hardcore about what you are fishing for here.. it just plain sucks.

Does anyone else have fishing seasons outside of Ontario?

Same thing here in Wisconsin. Our rule book is broken down into county rules, then some lakes/rivers have their own rules beyond that. Reading the rule book from the Fish and Game department is worse then adding accesories to my truck!!!
Our trout season opens right around the 1st weekend in May, Bass is usually June, and then walleye, northern are broken down into different zones.
I'm a walleye person myself, bass fishing used to be fun with top water baits and whatnot, but I tired of that.

No freshwater recreational fishing seasons around here; Just size and bag limits.

I just joined a local bass fishing club and I'm looking forward to the monthly tournaments.

I can't catch a walleye to save my life. Never had them in WV, never caught a single one... ever.

I know, I know, sad story

Give me your secrets to catching walleye!
