After market Tach on '81 vette

After market Tach on '81 vette

My dad has a aftermarket tach on his vette and it screwed up the stock tach. Is that suposed to happen? Is it somthing wrong with the wiring? Is it just one of those things that man hasnt been able to solve? Help plz.

Was the stock tach working properly?

Why add the 2nd tach, did you want two of them working simutaneously?

if that stock tach is anything like the fox stang tachs, than you need an accurate tach to go by for racing, especially with lower gears like 4.10's and lots of power. At WOT in either first or second gear, my autometer shift light will come on at 6000rpm and the stock tach is still reading approx 5600rpm

The aftermarket tach would rev normaly and stuff but the stock one will stay under 1000 RPM and it wont move untill the aftermarket one hits bout 4 thousand Oh well.... Just wondering if any one knew if maybe we could fix this.
